I know it's not to alot of peoples taste here but the online video of the Kanye West performance was 10x better than any other video i've seen on the Radio 1 site. 400 x 224 pixels, rather impressive.

Wonder if greyhead had a hand in this project? Seeming he has a part in pioneering all things video for Radio 1.

I notice they're being more welcoming to allowing you to view or listen to stuff in the realplayer program these days.

Me too, just from past experience with things like the Moyles movies they have been very poor in size and quality.

Yes i see what you mean. The canal ones from this year wern't bad though. I remember when the bbc had no listen again at all, and their live stream was pants. And they used to clip certain sections of shows like Moyles and Mark & Lard for the pages instead of listen again (which was pants for Lards Classic Cuts, becuase they used to cut out the classic cut becuase of the swearing).
This Kanye West video may be a breakthrough, i reckon we may be looking at an upgrade to 44kbps for listen again within a year as well (i hope).

Thing is, for even a little upgrade of bitrate, so many people listen online that the BBC would have to shell out so much more on bandwidth.

It is the BBC though. They can afford to do it.

Either that or the fact that it was at Abbey Road studios had something to do with it.

It is the BBC though. They can't. They're trying to cut spending!
