A mystery? Surely you can look at the IP's the person used to post with and see who else has used it? Or maybe the email address they used to sign up with will reveal some clues. Unless of course, you already know who it is, Chris, and won't share.

Ah but neither of those are foolproof - if they've been bothered enough (and sad enough) to sign up to a different Yahoo address or something... Plus if they have a dynamic IP.

To put it simply, I traced their IP address, and came up with a post code, BT6.

Yes, but the choice of email address can tell you alot, and if they have filled out a member profile...

Yes, that is possible, they are on DSL, possibly Wanadoo, which does give Dynamic IP's, but always within a certain range based on which station you connect to.

On the other hand, it could be Gaspode, as his IP is in the same range as SS, and has an identical UA string.

It's because I host my own avatar, so I can easily access my server logs.

Yeah but I still don't see how you can tie IP addresses/user agent strings with specific users on here unless you can access the cookies, which you can't cos they've been set for a separate domain.

I just match the timecodes from when people access my avatar, and tie that in to post time/dates. Most people view their post after posting it, and if I've also posted on that page, then my avatar is loaded.
