ive had it for a few months but this morning there was an update available and now looks-wise its not as good, but has all the same features and stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think there's any practical alternative to Windows and I think it's a really good OS, but after using Firefox I think IE is naff.

When it was unveiled, apparently they said the top PCs at the time could just about run it (or could almost run it or something.)

Longhorn was the code name for development, Vista is the product name.

No, all the development names are different, 95 was Chicago, 98 was Memphis and XP was Wistler (Coincidentally a cancelled NT4.0 was codenamed Cairo which is where XP comes from, the greek letters Chi (X) and Rho (P)).
