I don't know whether it's just me but Dr Nick appears to come across as assuming he has a superior intellect to everyone else on the board. While he probably is quite bright, there is something of an arrogant air around him.

it's because he has a phd yet works in IT. i was talking to my boyfriend about it (he thinks my relationship with this board is amusing), and he pointed out that anybody with a phd who works in a computer lab is sort of a joke. either dr. nick got his degree in some fluff subject and can't get a job, or is really crappy. i dunno. that's the bf's take, and he's almost finished his phd in computers.

my problem with dr. nick is that his arrogance makes it seem like he's better than all the newbies and is already hella part of the gang. i dunno, he's coming off as trying too hard to seem interesting and entertaining.

Possibly... I now work in Tech Support and while not arrogant meself... (I try to be more helpful and less patronising where possible) there is a guy who joined the tech department after me yet thinks he should be promoted already and that he knows best and is holding up the damn department.
He also has a Phd and gets arsey when I make a minor joke about someone elses BSC being a Bronze Swimming Certificate....
