The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'm very bored.

10 reasons why I have fallen out of love with the show this last couple of years:

1. Being a lazy arsed student I am never really up to hear the majority of it anymore, thus not missing it when it isn't on (like this week).

2. Lack of genuinely brilliant spontaneous moments. I don't know why, there just hasn't been that many that stick in mind.

3. Lack of blatant sexism anymore, perhaps brought about by the fact the show is full of women (Rachel shut up and bring back Will).

4. Too many stupid ticket giveaways (82125) and not enough good new features/spoof trails/parodies.

5. Celebrity Tarzan and Rob DJ's f*cking Monday Night bloody pub quiz.

6. The jingles. I know we all loved them at the start, but are they really funny anymore? Some of the rhyming is rubbish and if you cut out the sung jingles, then thats more time to be chatting crap or playing music.

7. Reality TV. I used to like it, but now hate it with a vitriolic passion.. and Chris's show is the ultimate radio show for any fan of reality TV too - Big Brother/Love Island/X-Factor.. whatever.

8. The fact theres so many people on the show! I know it sounds corny but I used to feel like I was one of the "gang" whilst listening (cos even if there was a big production team they didnt really mention them much). Now theres like three or four producers, two or three BA's, the newsreader, sportreader, Dave and Chris. At least ten people.

9. His interviews. The majority are cringeworthy lets face it.

10. I think that Moyles is past his peak. Not in terms of popularity or anything, but in terms of the content he produces. He was at his best late 90's/early 00's - when he earned the fanbase he had/has, and when he was genuinely dangerous and cutting edge to listen to. You never knew what was coming next. A bit like Mills now. Mills is at his best now, but in the true way things go - no one at Radio 1 seems to get the breakfast show when they are at their peak (barring perhaps Chris Evans).

______

Ten Reasons why I am a contradictory bastard and will still be listening, despite what I say:

1. Dominic Byrne. The mans a genius.

2. Moments ala "Nic Nak Paddy Wok". Hysterically funny.

3. Because Chris is still not afraid to give his opinion and is the only DJ at that station who dares to say what he thinks and speak out about the sh*t on the playlist.

4. Dom's Jools Holland impression.

5. The fact Chris hates us lot, i.e the chrismoyles.net nerds/geeks/losers. None of that Scott Mills/Unofficial Mills love in. Just pure hatred. Brilliant.

6. Interviews like the Billie Piper one recently. When the guest clicks with Chris and Dave, it shows how good the other interviews could be.

7. The JK and Joel handovers.

8. The fact Chris is bound to be brilliant in the next few months, as he always is in the summer.

9. Get Dom On It.

10. If they read these comments and mention them on air, they will tell me to stick them up my arse and say who cares about my opinion. Which I love, cos they're right.

keep your opinions to yourself.

i think if they had dom 6 years ago it would have been just pure joy.

i only listen to the last half hour because im too lazy to get up, but what i hear is generally ok. too much competitions and advertising of radio 1 events, but other than that ok. its best when chris reads out my AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS jokes, thats obviously the highlight of any show.

also what annoys me is the way newsbeat advertise radio 1 events in with the news, its not news its just stupid.

I think you've summed it up perfectly MC.

I used to really miss the show when they were on holiday, but I don't seem to care now. I almost feel like its a duty and a chore to still tune into Moyles. When he's away on holiday I now listen to 5live in the morning which is just as good.

Is it because I'm older? Have I had too much Moyles over the past 7 years? Or is it the curse of the Radio 1 breakfast show?

In my opinion the jingles are still great. Their only 30/ 40 seconds long so are only 6 minutes of the show. That really isn't alot! 6 mins out of 185!

I still love the show and it puts me in the right mood in the morning, especially if the Tedious Link tune is a corker as I am inevitably a minute or 2 late for work so it's on just as I'm driving in through gatehouse. I truly miss it when he's away.

I think you're spot all with all of these, especially Celebrity Tarzan, the Pub Quiz, having way too many voices on the show, and most of all Rachel! She has absolutely no sense of fun at all, and contributes nothing to the show but her whiny voice and overly pc comments :x. Bring back crazy, funny, always up for a laugh Will!

I agree with most of what you're saying MC. Dom is the highlight of the show at the moment.

Rachel really outs me off listening. I just don't feel she contributes anything to the show. She sounds like a cross schoolteacher and very rarely joins in any of the fun. Joce is another waste of time non character in the show. I don't think the show would miss anything if Rachel and Joce became people who don't speak on the show. Don't think either of them actually enjoy being on air anyway.

Why are you here if you don't listen? Take it you used to be fan?!
I just think the show has been on for a while now-remember 2003. The most awful year of Moyles EVER. TBH, I think they should end the Breakfast Show in the next year- end on a high etc. Since I dont think anyone can sustain the ratings he has for a long period. To people who have only listened to Moyles since Jan 2004, however, he probaly still sounds as fresh as ever.

I think I have grown too old for Radio 1. This morning I was listening to 5 Live (on my internet radio) and really enjoying it, and got out of bed and went to the shower. I cant get MW in the shower (or the internet for that matter) so I was listening to Radio 1. First words I hear from Scott "Lets here Orson dump someones boyfriend" and I thought to myself, "What a load of childish rubbish"

How often does Joce speak on the show though - rarely if ever so slightly unfair. Agree about rachel though as she's on every single day.

MC has got a point though in most of his arguments - although with his Will one he is slightly becoming one of those "go back to afternoons" mob he so often berrates! I know that MC argues that a move back to afternoons is physically a stupid and unlikely move but when most people say move Moyles back to afternoons they mean get the show back to that afternoon feeling - most of which are points you address in your top 10 - and that includes Will who for many made the show what it was. And getting Will back is, In my opinion anyway, as likely as going back to afternoons.

I'm getting too old to still be single and living with my parents but I can't blame listening to Radio 1 for that.

Agreed. The show was miles better with Will because he contributed more and wasn't moany. I'll never forget Fire at Will and Ill Will.

Will Kinder's Friday Night Chuckle was still the best thing Will ever did.

Re Joce I didn't say she was on every day but when she is on she's dire. She sounds worse than a listener they've just randomly asked to come on to be on the show. She's obviously too shy and not gregarious enough to be on the radio.

I think the whole show needs a kick up the backside after the team come back from their holls. I will listen with interest to see if their are any changes in the team. I really hope there are as it would be sad if it totally lost its spark.

Hence why she is hardly ever on - thus the team have solved their own problem! Besides, as others point out there are more distracting factors to the show as well than a member of the team who rarely speaks

But when she does she's bloomin boring!! Agree the more distracting problem is Rachel though.

i used to love wills football reports, and things what were similar to that.
don't get me wrong i really like moyles at breakfast, and made me listen to radio 1 non stop for the past 2 or 3 years(this may just be a coincidence that i have more time on my hands) but if we got will at breakfast it would bring back the 'glory days' of the afternoon. some bits are better, some bits are worse. but put them both together in the morning, and we will have one fine radio ashow. rachel just whines. she's not funny. she's just there.

fathomer, since i can tell you're so concerned... i still am i fan when i can listen, just not the same i was 3-4 years ago. the main problem is the time difference and my work schedule- the afternoon show was from 9-11am for me, when i normally would be at a computer in an office alone. the breakfast show starts aroun 11pm, or when i'm going to be to get up for my job. it really comes down to the fact that i'm an old saddo with a day job, and moyles doesn't fit into it anymore.
