WMP is not good either, I usually use Quintessential or Winamp.

Some may even wish to burn these works of genius onto CD. I now have Stanta on my Ipod again as it is a sign of it truly being christmas.

and Topher... I tunes has improved a bit now, whereas on ym PC, Windows Media Player seems to have turned into a memory leak (on my PC at least, can only account for my own experience of it).

i used to like winamp but after using itunes, i realised it was pish. and that other one looks like a poormans winamp which cant be good.

i hate ipods but itunes is well gid me thinks.

I hate Itunes.

Winamp is the way to go, you can create your own custom made playlists and have complete control over all your mp3s/videos.

Ive been using Winamp for about 8 years now and I aint changing!

Windows Media player itself pretty much ruins your mp3s, it take the tag its gotton and makes the playlists itself. Also it has been known to rename your mp3s to very random names.

I've never known of heard of it renaming anything, and I'm not entirely sure what 'it take the tag its gotton and makes the playlists itself' means, so I can't really respond to that.

Every mp3 has a tag with it that say basically what the song is called, what album it comes from and who ripped the song into mp3.

Some people have no idea how to rip a song properly, so when you use Media player it scans your hard drive and takes all the mp3s and puts them into groups. Cause the mp3s are almost never named correctly you end up with 3 or 4 folders for 1 album and most times the songs end up in the "unnamed" section cause it was never given a tag to begin with.

I just like to have complete control over my mp3s and what libery they belong in, Microsoft and their "we can do it for you" attitude really does my head in.

How many times have you been asked by micorsoft if you need you desktop cleaned up cause there was some icons that arnt used very often? I get this quite often and only have 6 icons on my desktop.

And what exactly is stopping you either resetting the ID3 tags, or, heaven forbid, creating your own playlists instead of relying on WMPs categories?

Never, I've not even heard of this happening before, but there's a very good reason for that.

I wasn't aware WMPlayer renamed files - have never seen that. I've had the desktop cleanup notice before.

iTunes is good, but a bit cheeky because even though I've not managed to get file sharing on the network it pokes about and lists all the songs on everyone elses computers, which I can then listen to.
