Plus Dave isn't off - he's on a fair bit with Chappers. Also, most radio stations have unusual schedules between Christmas and New Year. They give their regular line up a break before relaunching in the new year.

Chris and Dave are not employed on salary by the BBC, they are self-employed and under an agreed contract, which might involve a certain amount of paid holiday, but it wouldn't be much (if any) beyond what BBC employees would get. Over and above any such allowance, if they don't work, they don't get paid. They don't even get paid if they take a day off sick. So surely they are entitled, under those conditions, to take off whatever time they please? The rest of the team are BBC employees so have a set amount of holiday allowance per year, which I would guess is pretty comparable to the allowance most of us get. The BBC aren't renowned for generosity in such matters.

doesnt scott mills get two 2 week slots during the year and they get this christmas break.

when you think of how often colin/edith and jo whiley are off, then its not that much. especially for someone in the tv/radio business.

I am having the 22nd til the 2nd off too. Am I taking the piss? No matter how much they earn they are entitled to their holidays! Do you expect them to work every week of the year then? I bet higher paid DJs such as Terry Wogan are having exactly the same kind of holiday.

i agree wit 'maximus'! hu cares if theyr takin time off.. they probs work harded n longer hours than most ov u lot! theyr there every mornin frm earli on 2 way after lunch nearly evry day ov th year so leave thm alone

I don't like them having time off because I miss them lol! But I think it's important that they have quite a few good breaks through the year, rather than slogging on endlessly and getting burnt out!

I have been off since 18 December and I don't go back until 8th January. I think I must be taking the piss too.

im off till the 8th of jan, but go back to exam prep for my GCSE's straight away. Im at work as normal on saturday (not looking forward to it) and im a 'work' now.. well.. im babysitting for a bunch of crazy kids who wont keep the bloody front door closed *shivers*
