Are the Rallyoke tickets marked non-transferable? If so, eBay shouldn't be allowing them on the site. If not - well, it says something about the people selling them, but it if isn't illegal, why can they not sell a thing which they own? There's no law against being a money grabbing prick, unfortunately.

They can't guarantee that they will be able to get the tickets because to get the tickets its something to do with the phone number...I'm confused

I think it works thus........... if you win, they text you a code. Then they send you a text telling you where to get the tickets from. You go there with your phone, use the code AND your phone number as confirmation, and then they give you tickets.

So in effect the way the guy on ebay's advertising them wont work, because he's telling the winner to go and pick up the tickets, but they wont be able to do so without the winning phone......... in short he's talking balls.

That's what I'm lead to believe from what they were saying this morning.

All tickets for concerts etc are marked non-transferable by the issuers. As it's not against criminal law to sell them on, ebay choose to ignore this. So even if the rallyoke tix were marked as such I doubt they would care.

On the subject of people messing up the auctions by putting in unrealistic bids, it's a lot of hassle to set up an account just for that purpose, and I wouldn't want a strike and negative feedback on my regular ebay account just as a result of doing that.

Absolutey, and I know its not a criminal offence to sell them, I just said that eBay ought not to facilitate it. They are big enough to demonstrate some principles I think. Obviously they don't agree.

Jeez no, ebay's only principle is to make a profit. I do understand that the unscrupulous people selling the rallyoke tix are attempting to profit from charity and I agree that's terrible. The only point I was trying to make is that as someone who's worked in ticketing for many years, I am more than familiar with the way people try to circumvent rules and procedures to make themselves a quick quid or two.
