We went to Wigan Pier for a trip once and they had a mock up of a Victorian Classroom and I swear apart from the Slates it was the same as ours. We even had them desks with the ink wells and flip up lids.

I had them as well.

The ink wells tended to get full of pencil sharpenings.

On a slightly related note - do they still use sawdust in primary school when someone vomits? It seemed to be the norm then but now I find it odd.

There was a girl in my class that insisted on vomiting on practically a daily basis (i think she may have been ill). Then the janitor (or school mantinence technicians - wotever) would turn up and pour the sawdust all over it. It was a faily effective method when you think about it, but its a bit weird that they must have to order that from somewhere. Is it called "vomit sawdust for primary schools"? Do they get it from the same place you get jotters? Why was it called a jotter? As soon as you leave school, it becomes a notebook!

I've never heard of Jotters outside of the Bash street Kids!

Wow, does anyone remember the bash street kids? I wonder if I can still name them all...

Smiffy was one wasn't he? The incredibly thick one? I didn't read the Beano loads but I did get the obligatory annual every Christmas.

Buster ruled. Unfortunately not many agreed with me and it folded in 2000.

Also, we had jotters at school, also known as 'rough books'.

To get back to this being a bar, has anyone got any nice drink concoctions like the one's earlier in the thread that I can try?

25ml Cointreau, 25ml Galliano, 125ml Orange Juice, 50ml cream. Shake with ice, server in tall glass.

Also, a dash of grenadine in milk makes it taste like strawberry milk.

Place ice in a clean glass.
Add two shots of vodka.
Top up with Coca-cola (do not use draught or imitation brands. Best served chilled.)
