Do we think that BB will ban smoking when the ban comes in down there?

If you lot have the same rules that we do, technically they wont be able to smoke in the garden coz the studio will be classed as a work place. Even outside, its still an enclosed space. I think that means it aint allowed?

I'm sure i heard somewhere a few weeks ago that they were going to ban smoking on july 1st both inside and outside in the Bbhouse. What a nightmare for them - my heart bleeds.

Why?

Cos I like to have a cig while I'm waiting for a late train and I always make sure I'm well away from other people. It's my decision to smoke and I feel like they've taken away my right to make that decision. Surely it's a human right to smoke or not to. At the moment it feels like the only right everyone has is the right not to smoke.

You'll just have to go outside the grounds of the station; if a train is late, it'll tell you how late it's going to be on the monitor so you haven't got to worry about missing it.

Still not fair. And I'm much more likely to be peed off if my train is late AND I can't have a cig. MAybe a compromise would be an area where we can smoke as it's not an enclosed space.

Yup. Plus S4B - while you may be thinking of other people, not all folks would be as considerate. Plus, there would be an argument that the smoking area you suggest would need to be maintained so there could be a situation where a cleaner would have to go in to clean the area while others are smoking in it. From what I can gather, thats exactly what the smoking ban is trying to prevent.

The ban came in up here last year and everyone got all worked up about it right up until the day it happened. Then it was all forgotten about. I find it very strange these days when I go into a pub in Engerland and its still smokey. It wont be as bad as everyone seems to think its going to be.

I still think the ban is a good idea. Infact, I cant work out why its taken them so long to implement. This is my biggest gripe with the way our country is governed - they come up with good ideas but there is so much faffing about before it gets anywhere.

I used to occasionally when drinking but I managed to get out of that habit. I don't even like the taste, so I don't know why I did.

I don't. I like the idea of indoors places being smoke free, but I'm concerned about what will happen in pub gardens etc, which is usually where families with kids end up - will they turn into outdoor smoking arenas? With all the associated litter and smell? Having said that, I am ambivalent about the ban, I'll wait and see. I don't like the idea of marginalising smokers, or anyone else.
