Why is it that women don't seem interested in sport unless the object of their interest is, as you put it book woman, cute. In any case how do you mean he did very well with 4 safety cars? He had the fastest car and was at the front the entire race, didn't have anyone to overtake really, just pull away and stay out of trouble 5 times.

Yeah but you can't win purely with the best car, you need a combination of a decent car and a decent driver to get anywhere. Hamilton has been in classes where the cars are the same, such as F3 - he won that as well.

The fact that he is in the same car as an experienced double World Champion and is consistently as quick, if not quicker than him is quite astonishing. Yes McLaren have put a lot of work and money into him, but they don't do that unless they see something special in someone, it has to be there from the start.

I believe Button is another Coulthard, whereas potentially, Button is a Schumacher or a Senna in future seasons.

Aside from women liking sportsmen because of their looks, another thing that pees me off is that suddenly everyone's an F1 fan. There are gimpers here in the office who never talk about sport, but now it's all Lewis Hamilton this and Lewis Hamilton that. It's the same whever there's a world cup or the Euros, everyone's suddenly a football fan.

I've always like F1 so not guilty m'lord and although I'll watch big football matches cos my kids have them on it does nothing for me. For future reference though I do like tennis, cricket and rugby and have watched all since a small child so hope you'll allow me to have an opinion Bagfer. xx

Agreed to some extent there Topher the Bopher, but on the other hand if you like a sport, i.e. you with ping pong, it's quite annoying when people who have no idea what they're talking about try to be "trendy" by chatting about it. Sometimes it's embarassing.

Alonso is now whinging that apparently he feels there is favouritism toward Hamilton in the McLaren Team. After the events of Monaco, I saw it as exactly exactly the opposite meself, because had Hamilton been allowed to at least TRY to pass Alonso he may have won and therefore been ahead of Alonso in the Championship at Monaco.

Seemed to me big Ron didn't want to allow that. Don't get me wrong I DO see his point about a mistake could have taken them both out, but I think Hamilton should at least have had the option until later in the race than he did.

I agree it's pretty astounding, it's not unheard of though. Don't forget, the safety of todays cars is pretty much top notch; compare that to 1976 when Niki Lauda had his horrendous accident at Nurburgring, in which he was trapped in a fireball. He was given last rites and everything, but he was back two races later.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking away from the fact that Kubica has had a bloody good recovery to not miss a race after that (and to be honest, if he is ready he should get back as soon as possible if he wants to carry on), but these drivers are very physically and mentally strong and have the best care afforded to them in the event of an accident (well it's only right).

Alonso needs to remember a couple of things; firstly that it's Hamilton's first season in an F1 car, he had literally a few months to learn how to drive one; second that Alonso is a double World Champion, Hamilton is still a rookie - double World Champions should really be winning quite a few races, it's expected. Rookies, by contrast, are expected to learn the ropes and take their time to win a race. It's understandable the McLaren team have celebrated his win more than Alonso's on that basis.

Yeah, I read that a few days ago. To be honest, it's not like Dennis hasn't dealt with similar situations before, I mean it's got the hallmarks of the Senna v Prost bickering, but I still very much doubt both drivers will stay next season; my money is on Alonso being at Ferrari next season.

Yeah I think McLaren would do more to keep Hamilton given their previous investment in him.

Also update on Kubica, he's being replaced for the US Grand Prix by Sebastien Vettel due to still not being 100% (he is VERY close though, especially considering it's been less than a week). Also I looked up lap times for Friday practice 1, and along with the McLarens in the top 4 were not one but TWO BMWs... they really have come on leaps and bounds, that team.
