It wasn't about getting to No 1, we know he's no chance of that.
It was just about acknowledging a special birthday, of a performer who is still popular over 30 years later!
ROCK on got rave reviews when covered recently by Def Leppard.
It's a unique track.

When David Essex first came out he was considered rock and roll and I think appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and the like. Because he got a large female fanbase people ("The Man") decided he couldn't be cool...

I quite like him.

I liked David Essex, he was considered gorgeous back in the day. I love his voice but see no reason to manipulate the charts so he can get a number 1 again!
