I don't see it. I don't (deliberately) hide anything about myself; I've do occasionally leave out information, but that's generally because it's either irrelevant or just plain dull.

Above average? Yes. Ultra smart? No, not really, my intellectual pursuits are quite specific, so when discussing something in those areas I can appear smarter than I am. I know very little about general knowledge, geography, foreign languages, pop culture, history (other than things I've looked into because it's been in certain story books I've read), biology and numerous other subjects.

but there's great depth of understanding and knowledge on top of that.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I do try to understand (and not just book-learn) the data that I have; data is practically useless without understanding.

Plus, one day (like today), you are approachable, the next you aren't, so it's difficult to tell what you may get.

That's just a change of mood, some days I just feel a little vindictive, others I don't.
