I think they are "honorary" honours for foreign citizens. Bob Geldof has an honorary knighthood, this means he can use the initials "KBE" after his name, but he can't use the "Sir" title, as a British person can if they get a knighthood. I don't think there's a title associated with OBE anyway, so it makes little difference.

I think this is a disgusting thing to say. Kylie's like a chameleon (with her ever changes images, etc.), highly talented and very brave. And very positive, and deserving of everything.

I'm sorry, I don't.. It made feel really quite sick. And the thing is, you don't stay at the top for 20+ years by being a no-mark. Think about it.

Viv, I presume you are talking about the singles chart, which no one cares about any more. You don't need to sell even close to the number of records you used to have to in order to get into the top 20. It's also one of the most corrupt businesses in the country in my opinion.

The fact that she is still in existence, tophs, and people want to attend the concerts, buy CD's etc. is proof she's still out there, happening. I'm going to buy her WHITE DIAMOND album today with a Xmas music voucher I got.

Yuds is jealous I reckon Kylie is lovely, don't really think her music is very good, except the white dress one, and I saw some of her show on the Telly and it was a Gay fest totally, with father in law by my side, felt very uncomfortable.

Sick. A strange feeling there. Yes, she has done well for her career. She is an average singer, average looks, terrible acting and when you are treated like a superstar then I am sure she has done quite well for herself.

Rewind to the year 2000. Kylie Minogue was on the Chris Moyles Show to promote her new single Spinning Around. The fact was that this was the only time when you would have heard the single since Radio 1 did not believe the record to be good enough for their playlist is key. She was on the music bargain bin of life. She was desperate. I think even shagging Chris was an option at that time to boost an ailing career.

So surely then the honours system should be changed to incorporate people who have lived more than 5 years in the UK and has Citizenship in the UK.

Not really, I quite like Kylie, she has made a fantastic career out of a very small talent and done it brilliantly. She seems like a lovely person too, as far as you can ever tell about a "celeb". I just don't quite see how any of that adds up to a medal of honour from the Queen, that's all. There are people in almost every village, town, whatever who are far more deserving. Some of them get them too, but not very many.

And as for the cancer, I currently know four people who are battling cancer, and when they are done (if they get done) they will go back to their lives which are every bit as important and possibly more valuable to their communities than Kylie's, they won't have her money to cushion their recoveries or post-cancer lives, but they'll do it anyway - does that meant they should be on the list too? And the hundreds (thousands?) of others who are in the same boat?

I don't have a problem with Kylie, she's great (and as for being jealous, well, her legs and bum are nicer than mine but my boobs are much better than hers!), I have a problem with the honours system.

It's all relative isn't it. Of course Kylie has worked hard for what she has achieved, but it has essentially been hard work for her own benefit, anything altruistic is a happy by-product. I would rather see people honoured who really have devoted their time, skills and money to helping others, without benefit to themselves. And there are a lot of them.
