Hang on I love the taste of meat but live in central London, there aren't too many farms around here from me to go and meet the meat. Plus I'm not sure I'd wanna meet the animal I'm about to eat, it'd be too weird. I'd rather it just came in a packet or preferably on a nice big plate swimming in gravy with some new potatoes and vegetables by the side.
If I met it I'd get attatched to it, it'd be like someone suggesting I eat Muffin or Hollie, or Cat.
Well thats fair enough isn't it? I don't have a problem with eating animals, but I do have a problem with intensive farming of them, so I bear that in mind when I buy meat. Supermarkets are getting a bit better about sourcing their meat these days, but I am lucky enough to have access to direct sources so I use them. If only a proportion of the people who eat meat insist on it being sustainably farmed it would make a massive difference - and it's obviously a lot easier if you aren't in a city.
I wouldn't eat Muffin, or Hollie - I'm always a bit dubious about how carnivorous animals are going to taste, and anyway, they are pets, there's a difference. As for Cat - well, I know I said I like to know where my food has been, but that works both ways in terms of an eating decision.......
