Go to SALTCOATS, North Ayrshire. To ANY fish and chip shop. people from here, there, and everywhere head to this town for the ultimate chip experience.

People still say the original Harry Ramsdens is worth a visit, but I imagine its probably not as amazing as it used to be.

Yep, harry R's, Glasgow, Paisley Road West, Tucker! Or virtually ANY chip shop in ayrshire - not kidding.

But the original (and supposedly best) Harry Ramsdens is at Guisley, near Bradford. Nowhere near Ayrshire.

I drive past that place frequently - it looks like such a dive these days. Honestly - I think the building is covered in mould.

i don't like chippys that keep the skin and bones in the cod. I find that when you order fish and chips when you are by the seaside.

I'm from Portsmouth (originally) and no-one there leaves bones or skin on the fish but they are so fresh they're delicious. you can even go down to the docks (down by the Camber just behind the Cathederal) and they'll take em off the boat, do the business and straight into the fryer for you.
