Trust me Chris is bothered by it. If he wasn't he wouldn't tell Dave (eventually) to wind his neck in! I admit that there may be a VERY small percentage of people in this country that aren't bothered by it but, no matter how much they pretend they're not, 99.9% hate it and are very hurt by it.

Put it like this, I have walked down the street before now and had people - strangers - shout obscenities at me about my weight. I have heard people mention my size as they walk by with their mates. I usually try to laugh it off (while my outraged friends have a go at these people) but usually end up going somewhere quiet and crying. It hurts Topher, trust me, and I am nowhere near a size 22 or as big as Chris.

S4B, I struggle with my weight too and I can recommend two great books that really helped my self image: When You Eat At The Refrigerator, Pull Up A Chair by Geneen Roth and the Fat Girl's Guide To Life by Wendy Shanker. You can get both at amazon (or you may well sell them!)

It is true that diets don't work - what works is changing your attitude to food longterm, and people who don't have weight issues don't realise just how hard this is. Having people around you who won't comment on your weight - at all - makes a lot of difference. Does anyone honestly think a size 22 girl doesn't realise that she is probably unhealthy? Of course she does.

Thanks Nic, I'm keeping a food diary at the minute so everything that goes in my mouth gets put in the book. I have realised that I don't actually eat that much and that it's quite healthy so I don't get this weight thing at all!

For instance yesterday I had
4 mugs of decaff coffee with semi skimmed milk
A granary baguette with tomato and ham (no mayo or butter)
Tuna salad
a small glass of red wine
1 mug of black tea

And that's fairly typical

That doesn't sound like a lot at all. But alas, it's not that simple. the more important change is in your attitude - don't put yourself down like that. I really struggle with that but it does make a difference.

As I think Haggis said a few months ago, a lot of weight loss is down to exercise. There isn't really a simple easy answer for it - burn more energy than you take in and you will lose weight however it takes time and hard graft. It can be very easy to give up.

I burnt plenty of energy yesterday! I was cleaning my house like a whirling dervish. I have quite a physical job a lot of the time as well. I just don't get it!

Got an exercise bike but don't watch much tv so that won't work! I do go on it when I have time but the boys use it too as does Mr S4 so the seat's always in the wrong place and I can't remember how to change it

No but you're actually the only one expressing this opinion. Insomnia was ranting about something else. I think it was the ranting that made Balls think you were the same person, similar style. However you are much better at spelling than him and you appear to use capital letters at the start of sentences.
