My Scotchish friends (the ones I actually speak to, as opposed to the ones I only read) pronounce it "weans", which I always assumed was a contraction of "wee ones". If it's "wains", then I will have to revise this assumption!

Just remembered that I played pool with a satanist last night. Really should go out on a Friday more often.

Had a good night last night. We lost the pub quiz but had my hair plaited by a viking.
