Mr Y's grandad reckons he remembers it too. But my only complaint is truly the appalling Gerry and the Pacemakers abortion - anything else is pure sentiment.

Bohemian Rhapsody for me. Always loved it, but it has nothing to do with all that hippy shit about it having a profound affect on who I am. It's just a quality piece of song writing.
Well, the UK number 1 album was "Please Please Me" by The Beatles. I am horrified to say that the number 1 single when I was born was the appalling pastiche on a wonderful song - the cold blooded murder of You'll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

I have to revise my opinion about the profound effect this has clearly had on my life - it obviously was the start of my deep dislike of Liverpool FC!


I'm no Liverpool fan, but hearing that sung at Anfield always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

As in I "really really" like Twix more than Kit Kat. Oh and after Viv's been on her course ( Court Supervised I hear ) you better watch out !!! ( really, really, really, watch out )

On the day Barack Obama (August 4, 1961) was born Bobby Lewis was at #1 with 'Tossin’ And Turnin’ 

Obama shares his birthday with Louis Armstrong who had the 1968 UK No.1 single 'What A Wonderful World.' 

On the day Sarah Palin was born, The Beatles were at #1 with 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'.

And on that day (Feb 11th 1964), The Beatles made their live concert debut in the US at the Washington Coliseum. Over 350 police surrounded the stage to keep the 8,000 plus screaming fans in control. One police officer who found the noise so loud, stuck a bullet in each ear as ear plugs.
