If I really don't care what kind of a day the person has I won't leave a message. But mostly if it is pointed out to me that it is someone's birthday, my initial thought will be "oh, hope they have a nice day" - so yes, I do.

And the fact that it makes you sick is an added bonus.

I do think that to wish someone a 'Happy Birthday' is a nice thing to do, however I do hate that thing when your in a group of people and they say 'it's his/hers birthday today' then you feel the need to have to say it rather than want to.

Do any of you REALLY wish anyone in here a 'happy birthday'? Do you wish people well so that when it's your turn for a birthday message you won't be in short supply? Do you anticipate your bday topic and can't help but log on throughout the day to see which stranger you'll never meet unless you're called S4B that might have left you a meaningless message telling you to have a 'great birthday' and hopes that 'all your dreams come true'

I like some of you people, but in all honesty if any of you get hit by a bus today I wouldn't give a snakes infected puss ridden eye if I ever heard off you again or not. Not that I wish that upon any of you, most of you, but if it were to happen then I'd never know about it, because I don't care what happens to you, why would I? Friends and family yes, but not you.

Agreed. But again, why would that alter my feeling of "oh bless, hope they have a nice day" if I happen to stumble across the fact that it is their birthday?

Maybe I'm just not in the click or maybe I don't have that special internet bond or maybe I just don't feel the need to wish some deranged 40 something nymph woman who's groundhog day to day life that consists of waking up, being hammered, spending the day on the CM site, cooking dinner, more CM site, being hammered, and then going to sleep insincere messages, for instance?

Anyone who gets a buzz or feels rejected when they do or don't get a birthday message seek help, immediately.

Wishing someone happy birthday and expecting or wanting then to do the same to you are certainly not the same thing. I am careful not to let people (real people AND internet people) know when my birthday is because for a variety of complicated reasons people saying "happy birthday" to me is a deeply unpleasant experience for me.

Just because you don't care doesn't mean other people don't. I would want certain people on here to have a lovely birthday because they are nice people with kind hearts, usually I will give those few people something a bit more personal than a Happy Birthday in a thread anyway. Other people that I don't care about don't get anything but that doesn't mean other people on the board aren't close to them.
I think you do care for people on the internet, if Yudster or Topher died I would be upset.
