I just listened to it from Chris' post. I think it's safe to say Leonard Cohen's version is better, Jeff Buckley's version is better and John Cale's version is also better. That version was frankly disgusting.

I'm not particularly fond of the song no matter who sings it. Just to clarify that doesn't mean I hate it, just that it does nothing for me. I've never been fond of slow songs. There are a couple I like but as a generalisation I don't like em.

I'd take Firestarter over Hallelujah.

As has been pointed out to me, the good thing about x-factor doing this is there's now loads of people out there that are being made aware of the good versions of the song.
