I have thoroughly enjoyed today's shows so far too, especially Colin Murray. It's been great to hear him playing stuff he actually likes/finds funny during the day. Looking forward to Greg later. I'd personally love to have at least 3 or 4 10 hour takeovers a year.

I'll be listening again, because I only managed to catch some of Colin's show so far for the entire day... but what I heard from Colin's show was fantastic - Aphex Twin, followed by S Club 7, followed by Girl From Mars (which I love!), then Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris and a bit later on Meat Loaf - all in the same show. I don't like all of them but it's great to hear such variety.

I've been absolutely loving Take Over Friday. Such a brilliant respite from the garbage that is the playlist. Personally I hope they make every Friday Take Over Friday! Colin was particularly great, especially when he was getting annoyed with the morons who kept requesting playlist songs

My thoughts exactly. However, that means we'd lose Colin on the 10pm slot, where he can actually play decent music

I think it's a shame that modern Radio (not just Radio 1 but all the rest of the main stream stations) have to be so rigid & stick to a playlist.

It has been shown time & time again that audiences like a bigger variety of music throughout the day, why don't these station controllers listen & allow for a free for all. Why do they always have to be late night specialist shows?

I was thinking today that the few hours I listened to, there was very little "urban" stuff being played, so how come on normal days, it's mostly urban-y? The odd bit fine, but when it's 3 in 4 songs at points then it seems really odd especially when you think there's a station dedicated to it.

Well being the "BBC" and the fact "Licence Fee payers money" pays for it they "have" to cater to everyone although considering the takeover days usually result in hardly any urban music being played (yet everything else gets a level playing) you do have to wonder why they play as much urban as they do

I do understand, but i don't listen to radio 1 at 10 at night, so I don't care!

I listened again to Colin's entire takeover show today - absolutely brilliant.

That'll last you just one week? How long's your journey to work?

well, it will also be my alarm and in the background while i'm getting ready. then the journey is about 30/ 40 minutes including walking time.

My normal routine is to have the previous days show and i normally hear most of the three hours of that. Chances are, I will run out of material by Thursday, but thats alright cos im off Thursday / Friday.
