Why is it that people seem to love the smell of their own farts, but other peoples farts smell bad? I need answers!

i bottle mine and blow them through windows of other people bedrooms at night with a pipe system while listening to janice long (now bobs had to stop listening i can finally get him). it has no benefit to them but i seem to enjoy it.

they used this idea for the BFG but the law suit fell through and i came out pennyless.

Second fart question. This one's for the ladies. If you fart whist wearing a thong, does it make a whistling noise?

I hate the smell of anyone's fart! (A note to wannabe_mrs_moyles, don't cross Nablo, he's a big fan of Hermione's! Well, Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson III at least!)

Is it just me or has anyone else experienced that noise doesn't equal smell?
I mean you do quite a silentish one, and it turns out to be an absolute corker smell-wise; whereas you can do an absolute floorboard-rattler, and can hardly smell it.

Yeah, everyone knows about the silent but deadly one's, but unfortunately, hollywood has made out that smell comes from sound, which just aint true!

maybe its a propulsion thing. if it makes more noise it comes out faster thus dispersing over a greater distance than a small bottom burp which lingers in the trousers....

Or maybe it's because the smellier farts are because the * is nearer the anus - thus, it will not make so much noise as the * is in the way, and it struggles to get past...or maybe not.

I dunno if FD's comment was supposed to be a joke, but that statement is not true. The smelly part is actually methane naturally produced by the body.

I let rip a beauty in German just now! My teacher wasn't too impressed, she was as mad as...a rogue elephant! I think that's the best way to describe an angry german woman!

Farts seem to be very popular in general. There's even a site about them! http://www.farts.com (A little tip, don't subscribe to the daily fart!)

Precicely why I was laughing.

Farts are produced as a result of bacterial activity in the large intestine. They basically ferment undigested food, releasing the gases nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, methane and hydrogen sulphide. The last three are produced in quite small amounts and it is the hydrogen sulphide which causes the smell.

You believe it's true then? He could always be just feeding us a lot of crap and hoping that we swallow it so that he can have a good laugh at our incompetence, but I think he's telling the truth.
