I currently have a 2nd generation iPod nano (2GB) I've had it at least 2 years, possibly 3 and it no longer has enough memory to hold all the Moyles podcasts I have!

Any recommendations for what I should get? I was thinking simply to trade it in for an 8GB nano, but the iPod Touch has also been suggested. I mainly use it to listen to music/podcasts while at work (sitting on my own in a basement office can be lonely!) and on the train.

Thanks! :)

A Creative Zen. It comes in 4, 8 or 16gb and has a really nice little screen so you can easily watch videos (has revolutionised my tram journeys). Also in my experience the battery life is better than ipod and the software sooo much easier to use than itunes.

Yes, but if she already has an ipod and has all her music in itunes as an MP4, it would be easier for her to get another ipod surely? There are other MP3 players around that are as good, of course, but iPods are still very very good (although expensive I admit).

Have you considered removing some of the older podcasts?

Shouldn't apple be yelled at for forcing people into a propiertary music format thus tying them to their product? If microsoft pulled that stunt, there'd be bleating from mactards up and down the land.

Also, if you want an 8 gig player just for music then these babies are the way forward http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandisk-Sansa-Player-Radio-Black/dp/B001GCTR3C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242212337&sr=8-3

Yes but that doesnt seem to make a difference and still tells me there's too much to add, even after removing loads and so defaults and adds what it likes. It'll take the music but wont hold the podcasts for some reason.

Yeah, but regardless of DRM, the format is still proprietary is it not?

It is, for the time being at least.

You can't sync with more than one computer at the same time, but why would you want to do that? If it syncs with the one itunes library then instantly it won't be synced with the other one etc.

MP3 is proprietary - what difference does that make?

It's a proprietary format that everyone else uses, unlike what itunes foists upon you.

Anyway, screw ipods, THIS is what you want to get http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/MP3_Players.1/Cowon_iAudio.15/S9-16GB/Cowon_iAudio_S9_16GB_MP3_Player.3580.html

Yes, how dare they 'foist' upon us a technically better and, from memory, cheaper to license format. Damn them.

Buy a Zune. Okay, you need to get it from the US, but it's got an FM radio in it for listening to live Moyles too!

I forgot about that. I switched from ipod to creative tho and it didn't kill me to convert all my music, it was just a little bit time-consuming. Plus if her current player is only 2gb it's not that much music anyway...

You get to 'squirt' people, too, and as long as nothing unexpected happens (like the year ending) it's sure to continue working.

Of course it's cheaper to license, it's their own format! "Technically better" maybe in that it has video capapbility. Anyway, kinda going off point.
