Yea, It's mainly made up of fat I think. My gramp said it had brains in it but I think that was just him trying to scare me.

Making me smile is that I have just ordered a new ironing board, as our keeps collapsing, it has one of the sticky uppy things that holds the wire out of the way!!! Wooop Wooop.

Oh and I have just cut a Vase of sweet peas from the Garden, and bottled up my Elderflower Champagne & "Fruit Cup"

Mrs B will be pleased.

Haha! Such as the reputation of Brum.

Who posted the Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus clip a while back? Zoot? Well, there is a scene by scene review here, which is actually quite funny ("we watched it so you don't have to"). Looked awful in the trailer, looks even worse from this.

We'll definitely give the bacon a go. All you have to do is buy a belly of pork, then cure it, hang it and smoke it if you want to (my dad has a smoker he normally uses for trout). Then you just slice off a couple of rashers when you want them and you can leave the belly for months.

I apologise for the stupid question, but exactly do you cure it?

(and what exactly was wrong with it in the first place?)

Get a good piece of pork though, if its been injected with loads of water like a lot of pork is these days it won't work properly. Ha, like Ray The Butcher won't have told you this already!

You cover it in salt (or a mixture of salt and sugar) for a period of time. The salt draws out the water from the pork which preserves the meat. You can then hang it for longer and it won't go off.

And yes, it's really important to get something at least relatively decent quality - the cheap stuff is injected with water as Yudster said, but it also won't have as much fat on which is important for flavour (even if you don't eventually eat it)

The panellists were as good as ever, but Fry sounded like a pale imitation of Humph, without the faux naif and yet with all the script devices we kind of associate with Humph's character. He was obviously trying not be Humph (despite reading out lines that were clearly written with Humph's ghost in mind), but he was also trying not to be 'too Stephen Fry'. I'll listen on and hopefully it'll settle, for me. So glad it's back though.

As the above post shows, you really can't win with the Radio 4 audience! However he did it, Stephen Fry couldn't have won people over on the first go. People will, for the near future, always think that the guest panellists are *just not Humph*.

I was wondering what time the new iPhone software was expected to appear at so I did a quick google search. The discussion in the following forum regarding what the difference was between 12:00am and 12:00pm made me smile.

For those who need to know - 12:01am on Wednesday night is now officially Thursday morning.

Nowt wrong with a critique. What's wrong with an audience of high expectation? Like I said I'm optimistic.
