ah, young love I was just saying the other day that my ex bought me my watch for our 18 month anniversary, that was eight years ago and it's only now starting to give up the ghost. I did pretty well out of that one!

Today I am happy that it's sunny but not too hot or humid, I really like this early autumn type weather.

Normally no reason at all, but with Irish names its just another symptom of the incomprehensible need for people everywhere to claim Irish ancestry when they don't have it. Its just because its so incredibly fashionable that it always seems suspect! Of course if you DO have Irish ancestry its almost mandatory to parade it too, and names are a good way to do that. And everyone likes to give their kids names that cause comment, makes them feel special, even if the poor kid has to spend half their life spelling it out for people.

Mostly though because I'm in bad mood.

I became an Uncle (for the 1st time ) on Wednesday, Fletcher Edward Robert. Sis was trying for 09.09.09 on 09/09/09 but only managed 00.49.00 on 09/09/09.

It's all lovely, and we had a long chat last night, and it's cool.

We do have Irish ancestry actually. My grandma was Irish, but her family fled to England when the Irish Civil War started. The baby's father has Welsh ancestry, so they decided if it was a boy, they'd give it a Welsh name, a girl an Irish name.

By the way, just because you are in a bad mood does not give you the right to parade your stupid narrow-minded views on everything under the sun. I was trying to tell people about a happy event for me, and you have to add your own miserable comments.

People can call their babies whatever they like, me thinking its daft won't make a blind bit of difference to any of them and nor should it. I'm pleased for you becoming an uncle, I'm not close to my nieces and nephews, but I understand from others that it can be a really rewarding relationship given the right circumstances - I hope you enjoy it to the full. Topher loves it, he's a really good uncle.

We all have the right to parade our stupid narrow minded views at any and every opportunity Bob, thats one of the major functions of a forum. I neither expect nor want unconditional approval for mine, and respect is another matter entirely - I never thought I had ever done anything to earn it from you (or anyone else), so its not really relevant in that sense. I totally stand by my opinions on the matter (and my comments were general, not specific to your family at all) - they might well be stupid and narrow minded, but if thats the worst I can come up with I'm probably not doing too badly.

However - it was shitty of me to crap all over your genuinely happy time, and for that, Uncle Bob, I apologise.

I have Irish ancestry, somewhere a century or two back, in my family, but don't consider myself Irish or of Irish decent at all.

My Mum's maiden name was Reilly, which is the Irish spelling. However my Mum & here sisters were *'s, so was their parents & so were their Grandparents so it's so far down the chain that any "Irish blood" in my family died out over a century ago (my Mum doesn't recall any relative having an Irish accent).
