Max is a complete disaster. Dev has improved a little though, he's dropped the "street" accent to a large extent and talks like a normal person now. Step in the right direction anyway.

I could see Carrie returning if the shows contract is renewed, but you have to question whether she would want to. She has a husband now, and with having a small child I couldnt blame her if she left for good. It's not our decision to make, and if she wants to take this option I'm sure she will be around in a few years on various BBC Sport features.

That's why I was wondering, one of my friends in our work place was due to go on Maternity leave last May & was going to return to work this March. However because we had mass redundancies in our office she decided to take redundancy as she got her maternity pay at the same time. Now baring in mind back in Feb 2009 she was going to come back to work, when I spoke to her last time she said she enjoyed being a Mum and had no plans to rush back to work

So I don't blame Carrie if she decides to not return after her maternity leave, I think I'm going to miss her though, I weren't that keen on her back in 2005/6 but really like her now, she's a bit of a saucy minx

I think my love affair with radio 1 is coming to an end, i only isten for Chris these days.

I cant stand Fearne Cotton, Greg is trying too hard and i've gone right off him since he moved, and as for Scott, i can take him or leave him. I dont 'try' and listen to him, if that makes sense.

Once Chris leaves Radio 1 I think I'll be tuning into BBC 6 Music, they play a lot of music I like anyway, I only listen for Chris & not the music on Radio 1 these days, plus being 26 I'm now "outside their demographic" apparently.

I'm going to miss her too. Dom and her have a great chemistry, Dom playing little pranks on her and of course everyone tickling her. No more Captain Underpants discussed, no more hearing her giggle or laugh in the background as Chris tells a story and no more cries of "I'm under the table" or "that's hard". The team are going to miss her as well as us listeners.

I kind of know where Freddie is coming from, he may have worded it slightly incorrectly. As I mentioned above one of my friends at work had all intents on coming back to work once she had done her maternity leave but had to take voluntary redundancy. That was back in May 2009, fast forward to Jan 2010 and she now says she enjoys Motherhood & if she hadn't had been made redundant she probably wouldn't have come back now as she enjoyed Motherhood too much.

I imagine that's what Freddie may have been implying?

Yeah, i've just got back from a efw days worth of meetings in Scotland, so have missed some cruical bits from the show. Obviously knew it was coming, but gutted to be loosing the posh-totty. Carrie is great, if sometimes a little high pitched, she will be missed by many.

I'm sure she'll revel in motherdom, but surely she wouldn't have too much issues finding a baby sitter to cover 0600 - 1030, does leave her with a large ammount of the day to still be a mother without leaving her working life behind. Granny Wiley managed it for ages....

The crucial thing is that women should be able to choose whether or not to work outside the home if they have kids. I think that its been a long time since there has been any realistic criticism of women who want to return to work, and a good thing too. It would be nice if the same courtesy could be extended to those who think that their children's upbringing is just as valuable a use of their time and energy.

The point I was trying to make is that I, and I'm sure you, would like her back on the show, but if she decided that motherhood was something she enjoyed more she has the option to leave, and that I personally would not hold it against her if she left. We all know that Carrie loves her job, and that makes the decision a whole lot harder for her.

Nah, I wasn't offended. It was the "she has a husband now" bit that I found most odd, but I think maybe you'd just phrased it badly. I agree of course that Carrie may decide to leave, and I do realise that lots of mothers do the same. I'm very glad that I'll never have to make that choice, cos it must be difficult. The one thing I would say is that Carrie's probably in a position financially where she doesn't have to work if she doesn't want to, which is good. I have to confess that I don't really understand why people have kids when they can't afford to spend much time with them.
