All eyes in the technology world are on Apple as it prepares to unveil its latest creation, amid a swirl of speculation it is a tablet computer.

At 1800 GMT on Wednesday the company will hold a news conference in San Francisco to launch the new product.

Media and tech blogs have been in overdrive, amid rumours the product will be a keyboard-less tablet device.

For weeks, a flurry of photos and videos purporting to show the new device have been circulating.

"One never knows what Apple might or might not do on any given Wednesday in January," said Mike Gartenberg, vice-president of strategy and analysis at research firm Interpret.

I'll be interested as to what this is gonna be.

I'm hoping for something like...

"I'm Steve Jobs and Windows 7 was MY idea."

The iPad

I'm a bit confused about the use of it to be honest, I mean when I first heard about it I thought 'Excellent, imagine using CS programs on it, pushing vectors around with your fingers in illustrator it would be straight out of a Sci Fi film', but it's not up to that. It's just for the internet/movies/games (I imagine it would be app-games) and ebooks.
Plus it looks like Dom Jollys iphone.
Still, I'd probably get one.

Edit - Also, on newsbeat they described it as 'a large iphone, but much more expensive' then went on to say that in the States it's available between £300-500. Thats LESS than an iphone!

Stephen Fry tweeted that it's gonna be US$499 for the base model (16GB), $699 for 64GB, + $130 for 3G model. An extra £70-odd just to be able to use the internet! Nice.

Yea, although the non 3G is wi-fi enabled though.
Plus you'll probably have to pay a monthly subscription to use the 3G too...
