Your Uni admins won't like it Sidla, but there's loads of software like this which tunnels stuff like irc through port 80.

In theory I could probably get away with it without getting caught, but I wouldn't want to risk being kicked out of Uni.

The best way to get passed that problem is to find a irc server on port 80 (the standard http port) but they are quite hard to come by and will most likely be on obscure servers that no one uses.
