so has this "database error" which has been causing random posts to go missing (while a certain board member appears and disappears from the board) along with a hundred or so of jonnys been sorted.

whether or not jonnys was down to a technical fault (which sounds like crap anyway) who is moderating when normal posts about football like my man utd one a while back are getting deleted.

im guessing its not chris harris because when i PM'd the moderator back then they decided not to reply but chris harris usually replies if hes moderating at the time.

could we all have an explanation please.

Let's not puss y-foot around. We all know it's bob. As I said before, I don't have a problem with it as long as he doesn't let his own predudices influence his moderating. For example, deleting Hoare's posts just so he can stay number 1 poster and deleting threads about Star Trek just because he doesn't like Star Trek.

I think it's quite a good idea to have a moderator, because obviously Chris can't be here a lot of the time, so someone like Bob is needed to monitor the boards on a daily basis. However I think Bob has been particularly facist recently and I think he needs to calm down and take it easy a bit more.

As for a proposed 'war' between Hoare and Bob, I do not wish to get involved with any such thing. I come on here to make friends not enemies, so I'll be remaining neutral. Although Bob did piss me off slightly by removing my Star Trek thread, he did get rid of a lot of the irellavent crap posted by Hoare.

It's interesting to see how long this thread will stay here. Not long after 6pm I'll barter.

the fact that we're talking about this is sorta pissing me off. why of all places, would this board becoming essentially a police state? i know of no other message board where people would take bets on threads getting locked when they contain valid concerns. we all know something is going on, and we all have an inkling of the people behind it. i'm a bit peeved because these "database errors" have been happening on and off for over a week, and as noted, seem to be more prevalent in areas that are critical to certain high ranking members of the board. does this call for war? no. does it call for the truth and some answers? yes. people should start explaining.

as long as it makes uglybob's head get bigger. what the problem? its only words. i mean its not as if a board member has gone died or gone and killed themselves. if harris has promoted a board member to a moderator and the moderator has choosen to delete something then and they haven't explain themselves then thats their problem. you don't give someone the power if you don't trust them.

Exactly my point. If Bob is going to moderate he should do it publicly, rather that hiding behind his 'Moderator' mask. If Hoare's got a problem with it then it's his tough shit.

no one would agree on a moderator. i personally think there shouldnt be a mod team. just harris. its not as if its needed. this fight for the top spot is childish. uglybob is king of the castle at the moment and he'll be there for a long time growing old and grey. but come on - it would be cool if someone would explain this sudden error...

Yeah, but a moderator is needed, to get rid of all the stuff people say which is of a questionable taste. Chris can't be here all the time, so making a board member who's here a lot is a very good idea. However if someone is going to be moderator then they should do it in an unbiased way and explain any deletions or modifications they make. I have no problem with anyone doing it as long as those two guidelines are adhered to.

i think that the moderator should not be that involved in the day to day mechanics of the board. it seems that many of the deleted posts in question were not in "questionable taste," as much as curt/lame/slightly off topic/usw. if "the moderator" were to delete EVERY post that fit that guideline, than more people thank just jonny would have many of their posts deleted. it seems that there is a strick lack of confidence in the members of this board, and that my friends, is a shame.

That's my point, the Moderator shouldn't poke his nose in unless there is stuff that could cause offence. As I said, bob or any other moderator should give a reason for making edits or deletions.
