Anyway...I'm really not enjoying this heat. I know I probably shouldn't complain but I just feel knackered and short-tempered all the time. Nothing is getting done in the new flat cos it's too exhausting to even lift a box. I've had enough.

I got mine on a very good deal back in '09. I paid less than £200, and it's a good one that actually works (many don't), putting out 15,000 BTUs. It has a sleep timer and a quiet sleep mode which is great for those hot nights. I did buy furniture for the house first, though.

Yeah, we're working on it. The bed frame arrives on Monday (we currently sleep on a mattress). Then sofa, then freezer. This is what happens when you fall in love with an unfurnished flat but earn terrible money. But it's our first home together - we'll get there eventually. When my parents first got married they lived in a flat above a cafe with the kitchen at the top of the stairs.

I don't think he particularly lives an extravagant life - probably owns his house, and his overheads can't be that high. I'd estimate around £70k for 12 months of living well - which I am sure that someone who has looked after their money can afford.

If he comes back before he's ready or with the wrong project, then it could significantly impact on the rest of his career.

Let the man rest, and hopefully come back better, harder, faster, stronger.

Even when you earn £650,000 you still have a mortgage. What's Chris' house -- £2m? I'd like to think he paid it off, but he has talked about paying the mortgage in the past. Take off 40% in tax, his agent's fee (10 to 15%), expenses for holidays and first class travel (he likes those) and there's not going to be enough to pay off the mortgage in full for a while.
