Gaspode_The_Wonder_Dog wrote:england tonight dont believe people saying it wasnt useful theres lots to be taken from the game:
1) Never EVER let David James, Frank Lampard or Danny Mills play for England again.
2) Realise that some players are overrated: Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand (at least one goal chance he gives away each match), james beattie (will he be scoring next season? i doubt it), kieron dyer.
3) Play Jermaine Jenas on the left cos at least he might do something.
4) take the captaincy away from beckham after his disgrace of an interview at the end when he laughed at the result an moaned about the fans. Beckham has always been one of the more commited players but if the aussies had lost theres no way they would have been smiling afterwards.
5) Rooneys a genius an jeffers got lucky.
I agree with Gaspode on nearly all of these points
1: Mills was a joke he thought he could take the whole Australian team on. Maybe Lampard deserves another chance. David James: for someone who trys to come across intellegently in interviews his decision making is awful he maybe a good shot stopper but he is a liability. Bring on Russell Hoult.
2: I'm a Man Utd fan and i think Rio is overated and Wes Brown is a better defender. Michael Owens workrate is woeful as is his finishing lately, Darius Vassell hasn't much of a chance but has a good goal ratio and works really hard and is faster than Owen and how many chances does Dyer need?
3: Jenas looked good and i think he will be a good player but i think that he should have a left footer on the left.
4: Beckham was good as captain to start off with but he isn't a leader like Roy Keane or Alan Shearer
5: Jeffers was lazy and wouldn't run nowhere near as much as Vassell and Rooney. You can tell from his little touches that he is gonna be class.
Bring on Nicky Butt, Gerrard isn't as good at the holding role as buttsy
Also Hargreaves performance was maybe Englands best but the gave it to the young-uns
