Actually, someone (I think it was Glenn Roeder, but don't let that put you off) said that we should not put younger players in the squad till they're over 21. An intereesting point, other countries don't do it. I don't think it would have done Michael Owen any harm.

I agree with the Owen bit, His work rate is terrible and Darius Vassel if at a much less shitter club would do a good job. Rooney though, i think he should be there even if he doesn't play i think it would pofit him to be around the England players like when Eriksson took Greening and Dawson to the England get toghether. Also leaving out Nicky Butt baffles me because he was Svens best player in the world cup and even though it is a frendly he should be playing, hes better than Steven Gerrard.

sven says hes leaving out the peripheral players who are getting on a bit (butts bout 28 i think). also he says its an under 26 side second half an rooney jenas an beattie will all play.

Its a shame that Russel Hoult is not in, he is playing exellent with a shite defence in front of him.

Under the circumstances, Arsenal were lucky. Robert should never have been sent off, you should at least be given time to get back before the * kick is being taken!

Yes Bergkamp knew exactly what he was doing but if I was the referee I too would have sent Robert off.

No, neither attempt. Leicester. Why, when you don't even know where it is? And win what, the League? I'd like to see them win the league actually, ahead of Portsmouth.

england tonight dont believe people saying it wasnt useful theres lots to be taken from the game:

1) Never EVER let David James, Frank Lampard or Danny Mills play for England again.

2) Realise that some players are overrated: Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand (at least one goal chance he gives away each match), james beattie (will he be scoring next season? i doubt it), kieron dyer.

3) Play Jermaine Jenas on the left cos at least he might do something.

4) take the captaincy away from beckham after his disgrace of an interview at the end when he laughed at the result an moaned about the fans. Beckham has always been one of the more commited players but if the aussies had lost theres no way they would have been smiling afterwards.

5) Rooneys a genius an jeffers got lucky.

Right, I'm going to have my rant....

Someone should say to Sven "Look, I know your Swedish, but we are English and that's not how its done." We do not like losing, even in friendlies, you just don't lose to people like the aussies or americans.

People did not pay money to go and watch that game just to watch a stream of players going on and off, they want to see England play. I can't see what Sven learnt from that game, that he couldn't get from watching a few games in the prem.

I reckon a lot of those players in the first half had a bad attitude, like "We've got the FA Cup coming up, don't want to injure myself, I'm coming off in 45 minutes anyway, let's leave it for the next lot to clear up."

We've got to much pride to lose to the Aussie's in football, its just not done, they've gone home * celebrating now and we're left wondering what happened.

I agree with Gaspode on nearly all of these points
1: Mills was a joke he thought he could take the whole Australian team on. Maybe Lampard deserves another chance. David James: for someone who trys to come across intellegently in interviews his decision making is awful he maybe a good shot stopper but he is a liability. Bring on Russell Hoult.

2: I'm a Man Utd fan and i think Rio is overated and Wes Brown is a better defender. Michael Owens workrate is woeful as is his finishing lately, Darius Vassell hasn't much of a chance but has a good goal ratio and works really hard and is faster than Owen and how many chances does Dyer need?

3: Jenas looked good and i think he will be a good player but i think that he should have a left footer on the left.

4: Beckham was good as captain to start off with but he isn't a leader like Roy Keane or Alan Shearer

5: Jeffers was lazy and wouldn't run nowhere near as much as Vassell and Rooney. You can tell from his little touches that he is gonna be class.

Bring on Nicky Butt, Gerrard isn't as good at the holding role as buttsy

Also Hargreaves performance was maybe Englands best but the gave it to the young-uns

we played badly in the first half, then when we came out to the second half it was like we were a whole different team

the team worked together like a well-oiled machine. unfortunately that machine happened to be a k-tel nose hair trimmer

What Sven should have done is mix the youngsters with the more experianced players. They're not going to learn anything when they all play together.

Actually I thought the defeat last night was quite funny. It'll teach us not to be so complacent.
