some nice melodic rock always does it for me. as done by cky (see av) and many other great bands. these are real bands. not like 'busted' who appeal to the lowest common denominator. not just them in fact, also i believe sum 41 and new found glory and other ska bands do the same thing.

by the way have you ever noticed how busted are 3 guitarists yet drumming can clearly be heard in the ''music''? conclusion: not a real band

Im with Hedwig on this one. Something i can dance to really but i go more for songs than artists and will listen to just about anything as long as it sounds good

YES!!! I noticed this on last weeks CD:UK, it made me laugh anyway

Anyway I don't really know what I "look for in music". Usually I know when I like a piece of music. For example "Good Charlotte - Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous" I really like but I don't know why, my mind just tells me I like it Confusing huh!

But also if a song is forced on me a number of times through listening to the radio/watching TV etc then sometimes I end up liking it!

Oh well that's my rubbish reply, just thought I'd answer your question...

Like the lyrics of a song can really get me, the instrumentals can make me tap my foot, or the whole song just makes me smile.

It just has to be memorable to me I guess.

i dont particularly listen for anything when i hear music for the first time. sometimes i think over analysing songs can ruin them. i think like most people, when you hear a song, you know you like it because it just makes you feel good.

yeah all that above. i would say good lyrics but thats a lie i like anything that affects my mood i can listen to dance music all day an not be bothered but if the zephyr song or the scientist come on... instant happiness.

I like good lyrics and a decent beat the song can't be depressing because my music sets my mood for the rest of the day

I don't know what I look for really. I just like what I like, which is quite a diverse range of genres. I'll list some of my favourite songs in the top 40 at the minute and you can judge for yourselves.

A Rush of Blood and By the Way are probably the best albums I've heard in a long while. I got me ma the Darius-Dive in Album for Christmas and thats not bad!
The song of the year so far has got to be "Flash" by Fan gard or somethin like that.
