Providing you do something constant (e.g going out regularly) it can take 21 days to kick the habit so you wont be addicted anymore
Maybe to kick the need for nicotine out of your system but the overall addiction remains for life.
Why our their certain people on this board with nothing better to do then hop on their soap box and tell people what and what they shouldn't do? In the case of geordie boy, i can understand why you have a negative opinion on the subject as its directly effecting you. If have kids (heaven forbid) then i would give up smoking permanently as it would be extremely unfair upon them. However, i'm young, leading my own life and if i need a drink or a light up to get through these stressfull times then i shall do just that. I didn't take up smoking untill i was 19, it wasn't a fashion thing but i genuinely felt more relaxed and more capable of coping with work. I regret it now, but am not sure what i could have replaced it with at the time.
I shall leave this disscussion with one final thought. My dad is on anti depressents which won't endanger his health but has totally altered his character radically, leaving him as a shell of a man which i used to know. The drug he is on makes him hyper and drowsy at various times of the day. The dad i used to know who was warm, friendly, funny, loving but is now a gibbering, nervous, money obsessed wreck with a poor quality of life which will last for the rest of his days.
Its not not about the length of your life, its about the quality of your life. I may die younger, and i may be 'fick' but god darn hot dog i'll make sure i the best * possible time in the next few months.
