The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Now I'm not here to try and defend the show (I'm not the Producer afterall), however I am a part of the team and when I see what goes on from behind the scenes and then read a review of the show like we had today it really saddens me.

Why describe Jockass as a single line? We had three seperate callers, the first was very funny. We wanted to a Jackass style thing, but BBC rules meant that he had to be safe and the gag was he ended up doing very little risky in the true Jakass style. The second guy was a nutter who swore (F word) and was made to apologise.

The third caller - the girl - sat in a bath of ice cold water and made to stay in it for around an hour. She wanted to take her cat in with her, and Chris was trying to save the cat and keep it out of the act. This was very funny. Chris made me and, I hope, everyone at home picture the scene perfectly and it made for very good Radio.

That's just one example. The work that went into the Martin Bashir/Aled pee-take, The Clocks listener songs, and the Chubby clip was quite a lot, definitely more effort than of late. yet still dissapointment from the reviewers and just a single line, simply, listing what happened on the show as opposed to a review. Why?

Bear in mind also, the "average" listener listens to Radio 1 for 17mins PER WEEK. not day, not hour, but a week. So don't knock Chris for repeating things ("Scotter .... again!"). We try to do things in different sections of the show to catch as much of the audience as possible.

I'm sure I'm going to get a barage of complaints thrown at me now for saying this, so... bring it on. Bear in mind though I can't speak for team members who aren't on these boards.

well i edit the reviews. I didnt even put Sams review piece up because she absolutely ripped the show to pieces. The Chubby Brown thing I missed. Sidla didnt think Jockarse was good so didnt bother with the calls. Going through the TV guide doesnt make a link. Scooter again quote was by me... its ok if he repeats it say weekly but im bored of it. The whole Coldplay remixing bores me. Its a bit 2002 for my liking.
The laziness of the review is just a microcosm of the laziness attitude of the show at the current time.

i thought jackass was very funny too and so was the martin bashir thing.

i think thats actually what i was getting at when i said in the other thread that the show had lacked effort. it made for very funny radio in my opinion and i just think the show in the past few weeks has lacked this sort of stuff

but keep it up, i thought todays show was great :D

aled - we say such things in the highest regard for the show. in a way its a shame chris' shows have been so great over the years because when it goes through what is undoubtebly a bad patch now and we all remember how great the shows always have been, comparitively, its disappointing.

and we do appreciate the hard work that goes into the show, it is the hard work you put in which makes it without a shadow of a doubt the best radio 1 show of the last 5/6 years. but more regular features/phone ins are needed. your text polls recently have been very entertaining and i hope more features like this are in the future for the moyles show.

yours cynically

I was away from Skool 2day and so for once got to hear the whole show, I thought i was very funny! The whole JockArse thing was Hilerious! and the Woman with the Cat was clearly scaring Chris! I think the clocks remixes are great as well, maybe thats because i just ike the song! I gotta say i aint to keen on the "Songs that start the same" feature but I loved the Living With Aled sketch that was the best part of the show! Looking at the review I think it cud have been revied a little better but maybe it could get a bit tedious if ya listen to the show fully everyday I usually just catch the last 1 1/2 hours sumthing like that :)

I'm not gonna throw abuse at you Aled, the fact that you take the time to read the reviews (your proberbly the only one!) and then give us feedback is really appriciated, by me at least, and I'm sorry if it upset you today or any other.

The lack of review about the Jock-ass thing is my fault, and I think today (and today alone really) you have a point. I got in exactly at four today (normally i'm in a bit before hand) and went straight to reviewing, so I didn't understand what was going on fully on the show. Add that to the fact that I have just aquired one of those virtual baby things (the dolls to put teens off having kids like just for the next few years but for bloody life!), which was crying its head off, and the show wasn't getting my full attention which it normally does. So I'm sorry, in normal circumstances I'd probably have written something about it, but reviewers (very much like Chris) are allowed there off days. And I'm sure recently I'm having less of them than the man meant to be entertaining us all. I had one ear on it and though the women in ice thing seemed funny I just didn't find I had anything relevent to note on the information I got from it. I can't comment on the rest of the show as I missed most of it. And the reason 'I ripped it to pieces' as Bob put it (which I didn't really did I? Just said nothing interesting to say? I was p***ed off), is cos I really want to smile happily and say how great it all is.

Nothing would please me more to write a review about how amazing The Chris Moyles Show is and how he is my favourite DJ ever, so its not like we/I do it on purpose. I do apoligise for today as I wasn't paying attention, but the rest of the time I put my full effort in and I find I can't make anything sound interesting on paper (screen?). Everyones allowed off days but it seems recently its the on days that are the rare ones. Though from what people are saying I missed a decent show which is typical, as I rarely do miss one! Grrrrrrr. Sorry Aled, and people in general. Tomorrow I hope you will have a great show and if it is I promise you will have a great review to go with it.

yes, compared to Emma B, Dave Pearce et al with the exception of Mark and Lard, Moyles is genuine good. I think the knock back of the TV show has affected him and has damaged his ego slightly. The TV show was a disaster, thats from a fan. Im a fan, but I, and including Sam and Sidla cant constantly blow smoke up Chris ass. If it was just a "the shows great, listen" then you might as well go to the BBC Site.

I agree about the Tv show I mean I don't really think moyles is designed for telly! his humour fits perfectly onto Radio and the fact that he can chat about things like the last Record or other Dj's from the day, where as on Tv there isnt much room for things like that! I have to say that in a way Moyles and other radio DJ's do a great job imagine someone like Grham Norton doing a Tv show that lasts 3 Hours everyday!

That is a very good point. 3 hours is a long time to fill especially when songs only last 4-5 minutes at the longest! So in that respect Moyles does a fantastic job in keeping the show going for the *2hrs 45*

but most of the show is records... so it aint really 3 hours of filling... :D

while most t.v shows has adverts every 15 or so minutes...

whats the difference?

So yea! 22mins vs wot about a hour of Radio content! I bear in mind that radio has to be of higher quailty or at least clearer because of the lack of visuals!

Hi, Kez, welcome aboard. How long have you been listening to Moyles? First visit to this site? Can I make a request - don't use text type please, it gets confusing a bit and there is no need when you can ramble on for as long as you like! Thankyou :)

i think there is a problem with the show at the moment. if only because when i listen i use my headphones and might be doing stuff on my pc at the same time. recently i've found myself not paying attention to the show much and just carrying on with my other activities. there is usually one or two bits per day that i find very amusing but there rest of it does seem to be not very interesting and not very funny :( right at the end of the show when you do that link to the news where everyone answers a question, i didn't even understand that most of the time. i also think the jokes about aled are a bit repetative too. it seems that every other line about aled is taking the piss out of his orientation. it's not in a nasty way, but it's not exactly very funny either. having said that i do think the jackson / aled thing was pretty funny. it's that sort of thing i think the show needs more off. even if it doesnt work and isn't all that funny at least spoof stuff is interesting.

arg sorry for going on for so long, but after typing all this i just have to press submit , so here it comes ..........

i tought todays show was rather good actually.

The aled jones mockumentary was a bit poor, no offense. The comical storyline didn't make much sense and drifted all over the place. It would have been funny if you had created a story around dave pearce using monkeys to do his mixes for him. Saying that the closing lines involing genitalia had me laughing.

The jock-ass segment was a bit dodgy at first. How were you going to find some crazy scotsman to make this work? Luckily it came through with the first caller which had my team at work pissing themselves with laughter.

I enjoyed the show today as it was one of those where the team tried something a bit different. It wasn't the normal chris, dave, will and aled scenario. It was nice to have some callers on the show, chris' abrasive reaction to their views and actions is highly entertaining and it seems a waste that this doesn't happen more often.

I'm baffled however as to why the 'office games' (which is kind of simlar to jock-ass) thingy was never developed into a regular feature? It embodies the whole attitude of the show, wouldn't take a lot of pre show preperation and would likely provide entertainment on most occasions.

the whole thing to link into the news was hilarious. It was so newsbeat knew when to start the music Chris would have a keyword. Normally its something like "Dave Pearace is next" but he started changing it to things like "Cabbage".

Although it was funnier when he wasnt making it obvious what he was doing.

The office games was one of the funniest momments ever on that show. I still listen to it and laugh.

I had clips of it on minidisc when we were on the school trip and playing it on my speakers in the back of the bus we changed the feature into Bus dares!

Great fun!
