in my view i have a universal english accent. although i sometimes used yorkshire-ish phrases (rubbed off from my leeds born mum) and i have recieved some critisis since moving to cornwall that i have a strongish essex/london accent. i dont see/hear it myself

Yeah, which makes me a Southerner!

The best accent is Irish. Sorry, but if that ugly Jade bird from Big Brother was Irish I'd put a paper bag over her head and talk dirty.

We have a slightly different accent to the brummies, I think you would notice if you were from around here but otherwise you couldn't tell. It gets very frustrating being referred to as a brummie, I'm sure Dr Loz wouldn't like it if we said he sounded like he was from Bradford constsantly for example.

Yes the accent is awful and very recognisable as west mids, but I don't take responsabilty as I didn't choose to be born here! :) And at least us west midlanders know our place, we don't get ideas above our station, and that makes us a very freindly bunch of people.

Whilst listening to Mark and Lard they had a caller on who was near Wolverhampton and they said "Ah from old thick town as it's known".....they later said they didn't like that name but still :P

Is that because we came bottom of a national survey of britains brightest towns? Bristol came first I think, and apparently Wolves people are the thickest in the country. How nice, but at least we have some form of title!

just wen i see bristol mentioned...bristol university rejected a lad from my school who got 11A* at GCSE, 4A's at AS level and is predicted 4A's for A level! there was a bit in the paper bout them yesterday, they had rejected another few people with similar grades.
they said they were giving the places to people from lower classes! not with similar grades, but with a lower social standing..thats reverse descrimination isnt it? its hardly to reject these people because their parents have decent jobs, is it?

and just to add insult Euan Blair(tony's son) was accepted.

I'm not sure actually. Although its a brum postcode its address is Sutton Coldfield. Though according to my dad its a very nice place, very posh and beautiful. So you must live in a gorgeous place to not think much of it. I don't know the area very well so I can't comment, but its not that far from me.

To be fair I'm slightly swayed by the appaling name, it doesn't exactly conjour up images of birds and trees.

I live in a very nice village in which there's nothing to do. Wouldn't call it boring though, not when some of the things that go one here could be the inspiration to some great storylines in EastEnders...
