Celebrity Fame Academy

Jonsson is one of nine stars who will showcase their talents - or lack of them - in aid of Comic Relief.

The rest are Cold Feet star John Thomson, Ruby Wax and Jo Brand, Casualty's Will Mellor and Kwame Kwei-Armah, This Morning presenter Paul Ross and the Saturday Show's Fearne Cotton.

There is also a mystery student whose identity will be revealed later this week.

But while all nine celebrities are hoping to enter the Academy, only eight will make it.

The fun begins this Friday when the hopefuls perform on a live BBC1 show and the public vote for their favourite.

The seven celebrities with the most votes are guaranteed a place in the Academy. They must then pick one of the remaining two to join them and the other will be sent packing.

The week-long show will be hosted by Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty and the students will be put through their paces by the same Academy team led by headteacher Richard Park.

Each night the three worse performing students will be put up for eviction and one will get the boot, until the winner is chosen on next Friday's show which forms part of Red Nose Night on March 14.

Celebrity Fame Academy will be shown on BBC1 and BBC3. Money from each vote will be donated to Comic Relief.

Am I the only person who thinks fern cotten is a waste of space. People keep saying how shes the next Cat Deeley but she can't present to save her life.

I agree with Charl / Superwoman there, it really is just a cynical attempt for jobless D List "Celebrities" to try and get a job. Mark Owen anyone?

god, i dont think fame academy is the answer! i could cope with celebrity Big Brother, but not fame academy, it means they have to sing!

Ha ha, hypocrite! When Robbie goes downhill (sorry, but he will one day, everyone does) and appears on one of these shows, if (god forbid) they are still making them, I bet you will be the same then as well...

I don't think Robbie will sink low enough to need to do them. He's bound to do acting after his singing anyway full time, he may be good enough for that. Not like some other people who sing and act.

What's the point of Will Mellor doing it? He's already dabbled in the music business, but failed.

Oh, and I doubt that list's correct, it's supposed to be top secret until Friday night.

In the case of Holly Valance it matters, 'cos they put the video on the CD. Then there's TV appearances, etc.

just on these reality shows this Reborn in the USA didnt paul daniels do exactly that in a documentary on bbc a while back?
