I will be implementing a daily post limit on a per-user basis over a period of the last 24 hours.

I would be interested to know peoples feelings on what an suitable limit should be.

Perhaps this will make people think about the QUALITY and not just the VOLUME of their posts?

About 200, (that wasn't a suggestion by the way... )
I think it's a good idea, I'll be interested to see how it works out...

If it's Per User then can't it be set differently for different people. Thats my understanding as of how I read it.
It's also hard to say what is quality and what isn't as some people may like it and others don't so howz a fair judge to know what is and what isn't?
I woud say Chris would have to be only as he's the moderator of the board.

why should it matter how much we post, at least it isnt pages and pages of smilies, like ive seen on othe rforums, ones that arent this strict!

Yeah, but even the Almighty Chris can be biased...

yeah i think setting per user could be a good idea but a hell of a job for chris

its just a bit pathetic that some people actually need it

If Chris really does seem that and people feel he's biased then there is always Sam who turned out to voted as Moderator but wasn't inforced. Only a suggestion.

I think the star system has a lot to do with the problem. To get yourself known on here you have to post as much as everyone else and then if you post too much to get rid of the newbie tag your run out of town.

That doesn't really come into it, a newbie seems to be more decided on your time here and not your post count.

The limit has been set at 100. I'll review it (downwards) tomorrow once everyone has had a chance to get used to the idea. It will probably be 50 posts per 24 hours.

Hedwig, with 106 posts already today, can no longer post.

That's a good idea Chris, even 100 sounds like a lot to me, can't imagine posting that much!! Shame you have had to do it but it won't affect me anyway I suppose. : )

i think that's a particularly awful idea. if someone is constantly making useless posts / threads just warn / temp ban them.

Looks like it, but 100 is quite a bit so that's ok.
I don't think I've ever posted 100 in 24 hours but I still don't agree on the "chat" thing

If it is the only corse of action then fair enough I think people won't have to much trouble of not going over a 100 posts in aday. If they are then they do need dumming down but as Timb said if you know it's certain people then warning them would be better. Then again I spose you have done today with the guideline reminders.
