its a bit sad that the tedious link is usually the best record on the whole show. i think gail porter will be good if she doesnt insist on shouting....

But the tedious link is usually the classic record that everyone thinks "bloody hell, remember that?" whereas the R1 playlist is just shite really.

I love the Groove Armada record they played on Thursday.

Don't be daft

Todays songs ARE as good. The tedious is always going to be good because you get to pick 5 songs a week from 15-odd years worth of songs - you're going to pick the best.

In ten years time, if you pick a handful of songs from.. this year even, you're going to pick the best ones and we're all going to go "oh! remember that one, it was good, not like today's songs".

A playlist is made up of 55 songs. you're not going to like all of them! you certainly can't compare 55 songs replaced every 3-4 weeks with a handful of songs spread over several years!!!

A lot of the songs (IMO) are not as good as the tedious links, which as you say are mostly going to be great.

I agree with tim yet again. I think I must be ill. I think Dave's music taste leaves a lot to be desired. There's the odd good song, but normally it's one of 'his favourite records', which is crap.

its not exactly old though, its only 3 years ago. I liked the fact that Dave picked a 60's song on Friday. Aled, everyone in this place im fairly certain hates the playlist in principle. Where is the outlet for songs of 10 years deemed too hard by Radio 2 listeners like your Nirvana or early Prodigy? Not one station does now that Radio 1 deems anything before 2001 obselete. Have you noticed the older songs like Song 2 and Bittersweet Symphony never get played anymore.
Dont reply by saying 6 Music because the vast majority of us do not have access to Digital Radio.

i'm not against the playlist totally. if i were head bbc guy i would probably say they have to play 3/4 of the play list but still give em flexibility to drop the awful ones and insert some ones they like

Yeah, I think DJs should be allowed to play songs that they like. Having said that, you can't really complain about the playlist because it satisfies every genre, but it would be alot better if they were allowed to play music from the past decades.
