On saturday in Leeds there was a anti-war demo and i had a "discussion" with a socialist party member and to be quite honest, the guy didnt have a CLUE what he was talking about, he was adament that hussain was "being honest and trueful" in his actions saying he had no weapons and when i asked how could he explain the death of thousands of Iraqs people because of their beliefs and their religon, the guy couldnt he simply said, "were going to make it worse"

i agree that the war is terrible but at the end of the day they have given Saddam so many chances and now i think that war is probably the only solution

Ok its not the only solution i suppose but its the one that our leader has decided on and now it is important that we give our troops out in Iraq the backing and support that they need

in this case it IS the only thing we can do

for 12 years we have "let him off" we have to destroy him, the people objectting to us going in are mearly giving him more power and time

if we dont do something we ARE at risk..i know lots of people are saying we cant say if he has weapons of mass destruction...we will know when Israel or Kuwait get hit by a nuclear war head, belive me this could happen.

i think "W" is a tw@ having read "Stupid white men" most of this was caused by him and his cronies so it really is him and his dads fault however he has weapons (hussain) and the prospect of him using them are too high to sit back and relax

im not a Labour or blair fan and you know what i feel about Bush its just we cant let our peace and the peace of other people be at risk from him

if you are against war..fair enough but please PLEASE show support to the troops they needs us and if they recive and hear negative press....the morale will cause huge problems

i hope to god this war is short

if it really was such a terrible thing then yes, you could expect most of them to resign. the fact is most of them think he is right, which he is.

I think the government is stupid and let america get on with it because if he go to war with them were the ones that are gonna have the probs:
1)Terrorism
2)International court

After four months of constant barraging by the media i just want this thing over. I have had that many arguments thrown at me i dont know what to believe anymore.
I know that this isnt a moral War - people will die
I know this isnt about oil
I know that Saddam Hussein isnt about to nuke anyone.
I know he does threaten Israel.
There are threats to world peace provided by North Korea who have actually threatened the US. There are other dictators Mugabi for example who is commiting mass genocide by starving his own people but this is not enough to justify intervention there in some moral crusade.
Its all a bit confusing. Im afraid that what will happen is that we will level Iraq then move troops to the outside of Baghdad where i fear we may get bogged down in urban warfare. Prepare the body bags people this is going to get messy

It is true and very depressing to think that while thousands of people will be dead in 48 hours we will still be told that no english person has been killed, civilian casualties have been kept to a "minimum" Ill put all my money on constant images of precision bombing, i dont care how precise it is but there will be people civilian or not in that building.

if there not civilians they are supporting saddam and deserve to die, if they are civilians they should have the brains to move away from military targets. there wont be that many civilian casualties that quickly

Dont talk bilge timb. How can any human being deserve to die because they live in a country with an opressive leader. People need work and therefore will work in factories producing weapons not as allegiance but as necessity. What does constitute a military target? A bridge? A factory producing nuts and bolts for missiles?
Many will die how many died last time? 180,000 in an apparently quick air ased war. We are planning to launch more missiles into Iraq in the first night than we did in the whole of the last war many more civillians will die-all to rid Iraq of one man.

don't be stupid, nuts and bolts obviously not. missiles ? yes anthrax ? yes. bridges ? yes, although you do it at night when civilians aren't using it. television stations? no chinese embassy? well i'll have to think about that. how many of those supposed 180,000 were killed by modern precision
weapons? how many innocent people died in serbia when we bombed them? very few. and they had a much better equiped military

the military personel involved have a clear mandate to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible.

People who want the war to go ahead: Bush, Blair, that Spanish bloke, puppy dog politicians who can't think for themselves, a few power crazy politicians, not bloody many normal Joe Average people.

People who don't want it to go ahead: The vast majority of decent Britons, Americans (I think), Iraqi civilians who fear for their lives, a lot of the Iraqi military who were forced to join the Army to fight bush and Blair.

Its wrong, but if we do go then like everyone else I will support our troops 'cos they're not given a choice.
