That's basically what the careers woman said & why she was pushing me towards a HND I think - just a bit annoying because it limits me to unis that offer HNDs, and offer the same course as a degree, but it's my own fault so I can't complain!!

Warwick is hard to get into because it is apparently the best. I used to like the pub that was on site. Looks nice but cheap as chips .

Its sort of half way between Coventry city centre and Warwick town centre. Coventry is good for clubs and pubs but beware of the fights cos its very rough lol.

As its so hard to get into you have to get As and Bs at A Level

Magenta give Newcastle a go or northumbria where i am. OK its a city but a small one. Its safe clean (apart from the Bigg market) and has some nice buildings its going for city of culture so they're making the effort.
I only know the website for northumbria which is http://www.unn.ac.uk. They have a good business school after all im there. They also have a large it school.

newcastle?? with a usual offer on the basis you get BBB/ABC to do any sort of business course.

Northumbria mate will let you in i got BBE and i got in. The business school at Northumbria is better than the Newcastle one anyway there was talk of it going solo to get away from the poly tag however the dean cancelled it because they felt the uni would dissapear without the business school. Also Newcaste wanted to bring it under its wing but again rejection.

True but its only 3 hours on the train and its cheap. Lancaster is good uni but the campus is on a hill outside the town so its not exactly convenient after the first year. Preston (C Lancashire) is a dump. Manchester is probably where i would go given the choice again however.

lancaster: generally its the same as any other student city or town. its obviosuly gonna be lively because its home to, two uni's. University of Central Lancashire (Preston) and Lancaster University.

yeah just to go with the above by ninemaster. if UCL is in Preston how is it also in Lancaster?

Yeah but the point is that I'd do the HND then do a top up to a full degree or try & get myself moved onto the degree course, just that I can't do a degree right now unless I'm lucky or stay another year at college.

yeah people on my degree did a 2 year hnd then moved into the 2nd year of our course so they did 4 years in total but got 2 qualifications.

Nearly everybody on my course who started on HND were moved up to a full degree after the first semester.

either that or take one after you finish uni. if you wanna travel the world before you become even more skint, then do so know.

It isn't so much as travelling the world. Its more of taking a break and getting some experience that isn't learning. As well as earning money so I won't be quite as skint.

I took some time out for travelling but ended up working for two years before coming to uni. Best thing i ever did. Not only do you have a degree you have work experience. I however am off for the world tour next year as im not ready for the office just yet.

Same here 9, I worked for 2 years. I had every intention to go to uni straight after A-levels, but I got a job and kinda forgot about uni. I don't think I was mature enough to go to uni straight after school anyway.

I don't know wether I'd recommend taking a gap year, depends on what you want to do really. I think I made the right decision, but not everybody would want to take 2 years out.

Two years would be nice, but knowing me I would go and lose the idea of doing studies for a while after that.

It's scary to think that I could go to uni in a year and a bit if I really wanted, but I feel I'd be far too young. Rather go just when I am about to hit 18, lol. I would love a gap year, but feel it might be a bit expensive. It's expensive enough just getting onto the mainland without leaving the country.

Someone at work has told me there is no way they would ever transfer you from a HND straight on to a degree course, because it's a completely different level etc etc.... hmmm! :/
