The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

My briches nearly snapped away from my stomach through laughing today as i read the 'team brief' at work. We are apperently being told not to talk about the war during shifts as certain workers who have connections with the conflict have been upset by comments made by others.

oh, I'm very sorry for having a viewpoint. No-one told me that democracy had been abholished in the uk.

Whilst i wouldn't mind if democracy was abholished, as I've stated before

Democracy doesn't work cause there's to many wankers in the world.

For the meantime, democracy is in place and if i feel the need to tell a few jokes about iraqi troopers liking to 'oil up' then i shall damn well do so. If iraqi students employed at my workplace do not like my light hearted jostling then they always have the alternative to move back to their mother country to study.

Actually, that wouldn't work because saddam discourages any intellectual development of iraqi studets which may encourage freedom of speech and this belief is reinforced by..... his republican iraqi troopers who like to oil up.

the jokes are not discriminating iraqi people, just the republican troops which are supporting saddam.

When i shall put in a complaint about certain people calling me racist.

im getting peeved as the old gits are hogging the telly at lunch and i cant get my daily dose of melanie sykes. What is it with males over 30 and war on the telly. they must have a compulsion to stick on news 24 and its the same thing rerun over every 15 minutes.
in the dole we havent been told not to talk about the war. the majority in my room are females so thats the last things on their minds. what is on their minds is how many points that packet of barbecue snackajacks is to their weight watchers total points and their fixation for who's dying in the local area.

abc, cnn, fox.. not really stuck for choice over there are ya? all you need to do is move that dish or ask the local cabel company to tune you into sky news and your life is complete.

it seems to be another soap opera for you happy tv loving yanks.

if my boyfriend had a dish there would be the remote chance of getting sky (which is sometimes picked up on cspan, but not now). i watch news 24 whilst at work. when i'm at home i watch just flip between all the different cable networks. frankly it's sorta pointless. my boyfriend pointed out to his mother yesterday that each network has about 20 minutes of material and then uses it for 24 hours. they just talk and talk and talk, but say nothing at all.

npr does it right.

yeah but it just shows what rubbish it is when they dont have a war to talk about.

Good to know, thanks!
