As you all may know, or maybe not...... i get confused easily (big part of me being dizzy), but i would like to take your veiws to sort a certain phrase/ meaning of word out!!..........

I dont mean to cause any offense by this but i am woundering who/what/where are 'janners'..........

My house mate has said that 'janners' are what plymouth/Navey people call people from Cornwall, but i have also been told by people from Cornwall that 'janners' are people from plymouth......... Does anyone actually know the answer???......... coz to me this is sooo confusing!! Or is the whole 'name' calling thing a dispute between people from Cornwall and Plymouth????? but once again i will say that i dont want to offend anyone....... its just somthing that has been pecking my cute head for ages.

i've done a bit of research. Janner traditionally refers to a 'country bumpkin' type of person. Some would say therefore that cornish people are jannors. On the other hand, modern day meanings refer to a plymoutholian whose main motivation is to get drunk,laid and cannot grasp a conversation revolving around current affairs. Burbury baseball caps are a favourite article of clothing.

The art of janner is usually passed down from generations altough the pattern can be broken. For example, my brother has developed a welsh accent to avoid stereotypes whilst my sister has become a fully fledged janner tart. I on the other hand have developed a beer based slurring monotone speech which only i understand.
