Someone at work has told me there is no way they would ever transfer you from a HND straight on to a degree course, because it's a completely different level etc etc.... hmmm! :/

That's what I did. 2 years on HND, then you do a bridging semester (half a year) and then the final year of the degree course. The person at work was talking out of their timb.

That's totaly untrue because I've done it. I enrolled as an HND student and they transferred me to the full degree after the first semester.

That's what I thought as well, I hate it when people think they know better though - so didn't want to have a disagreement, they think I'm cheeky as it is!!!

just agree with people, then confirm if they are infact talking crap at a later date. which you have done.

I don't like just agreeing for the sake of not having an argument though really, not something I'd normally do.

I said I thought that if I enrolled onto say an IT related HND at a uni that did the degree course alongside & proved that I was more than capable of doing it - which I think I am - then they'd surely move me straight onto the degree course...

To which I got an answer of something like "I don't want to offend you, but do you REALLY think you can go straight onto a degree course?"

Which means of course I have to do it now, to spite them.

well, if you do a HND - show the uni you have a high degree of intellgnce, then they will probably give you a back door to the degree level. you are showing the ability of being able to cope with a degree. get all your work done and in on time, then you'll get noticed. its just uni's filling spaces for degree's courses that havent already been filled. if you dont have the grades, but can work well etc then you are given the chance to study at a higher level.

In my case it was a recognised route to take - as long as you passed your HND you cuold continue onto the degree - you couldn't just jump across straight away though.

it depends on the college/ uni. sidla has said that he did one term of hmd and got promoted.
