I have been absent for a few days due to a slight computer problem involving porn. Whenever an internet page is accessed on my computer all I get is porn- around 50 pages with some VERY graphic images, and lots of download boxes which eventually leads to the computer being restarted.
Porn icons/titles are then loaded onto the main screen thingy when the computer is turned on AND in the favourites menu on the internet, the homepage is turned to a porn site and the MSN search has also been turned into a porn sight.
Through some guidance I eventually managed to solve the problem myslef by deleting hundreds of cookies and finidng the source of the problem (I'm so proud of myself hehe) and changing the secuirty setting and homepage.
Now the problem keeps occuring and I can't change the search engine thing on the internet back to MSN (by this I mean the one in the toolbar on a web page) so does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

I have so far managed to avoid showing my mum and dad as everythnig is extremely grpahic and sick but I fear they will go online and it will happen again. Anyway I can get rid of it forever?

Lol! Which website did you visit to manage that?

I'm sure it's possible, but not being able to play about with the settings of these computers I can't have a look. Are you using IE?

Not strictly a virus, just clever use of cookies and CGI.

IE - Internet Explorer.

i'm 99% sure cookies can't do that. using internet explorer however does make your PC insecure to aything websites want to do to you, normally through javascript.

download a new browser:

Or just delete cookies, or change your screen saver to sesame street

I already have AdAware, and whilst we still had the problem I ran it a few times but it didn't help. I have Norton Anit-virus which I also ran but it didn't find any viruses. The only way I solved the problem was by deleting lots of cookies starting with S and containig lots of numbers.

But still the problem remains with the search option on the toolbar.

It wouldn't be the cookies, it would have been some sort of CGI application, probably javascript. If in doubt uninstall and reinstall IE.

Yes but the problem stops when I delete certain cookies. I don't know what CGI is and we don't have Java script anymore cos I probably accidentlay deleted it and I need my brother to come home to show me how to put it back on.

i had some weird virus a couple of years back and whenever i went on the internet it kept coming up with some really sick child pornography pics.

i had to reload windows in the end but some guy i know said that virus can back themselves up now to reload when you load up windows so sometimes you have to F disk.

if you have the time to do it, i'd just save all the files you want to cd and reload the system.

You can't delete javascript. You can disable it but not delete it. It wasn't necessarily javascript anyway, could have been some other cgi language.

It's only just recently that we did this. I now know how to solve the problem but can someone tell me how to change the search option back to MSN and not porn?

for example just tried to change the search option but the porn started loading up again (it's like 20 pages in 20 seconds). So i then had to change the hompage and delete the appropriate cookies and its ok again now. I don't know how to re'install so I gotta wait for my brother to come and thats not till Friday.

Good to know, thanks!
