ok can somebody who knows anything about car insurance help me.
When I (hopefully) pass my test I want a mini, despite the fact that according to recent reports they're the most dangerous cars about.
But I'm hearing conflicting information. When looking at Autotrader website it often says minis are cheap to insure, yet a friend tells me its really expensive cos they're so crap. So does anybody know how much insurance I could expect to pay on an old mini bearing in mind I'd be 17.

Ah I see now. Well unfortunately I don't have time to read all the posts on the board, especially the trash can. But my question is different. He is asking which is the best company, I'm asking how much do you think it will cost to insure a mini.

http://www.directline.co.uk will do you a quote if you fill in all your details. Though I looked at minis and I think the cheapest was about £1300, can't really remember, sorry.

A lot do quotes online, don't even look at the AA, they claim to be the cheapest but they're one of them ones that give young people like a £5000 quote just to make the piss off elsewhere.

It is true that they take a gamble on young people, but if you're sensible (as I said in the other thread) you won't be claiming anyway. Also underestimate the mileage and car price a bit.

Who is in that then? Sorry, but yanks couldn't do the Italian job, a British classic, bit like we couldn't do something like Shawshank if we tried.

Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Ed Norton, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham and Seth Green

There not trying to out do it, there just trying to equal it and from what I've seen it looks good.

I refuse to accept that the original could be equalled. If I end up being proved wrong, fair do's, but how can you beat the original cast... Michael Caine, John Le Messurier, Noel Coward, Benny Hill....

If anyone hasn't, goto http://www.trailersworld.com/movie.asp?movie_id=1936 has got a whole bunch of trailers (as you might expect from the url).

What I've seen of it, Norton looks wasted in his role and who decided Wahlberg was worth anything?? That person should be shot.

BTW, girl mars, try http://www.elephant.co.uk for car insurance. They do a 10 month option to build up your no claims quickly (so long as you don't crash obviously).

.... And yes I'm new here but am going to spare you from those stupid "hello" posts. Oh cr*p, I just said hello.....

Ed Norton doesn't look wasted he gets a nice character arch which is always good and he is more than capable of pulling it off.
Besides whats wrong with Mark Wahlberg he did a good job in Perfect Storm.

Yeah, he died

Sorry if that spoiled it for anyone, but most people know the story before seeing it anyway.

I think the terms "hollow", "wooden" and "bland".
He was good in Three Kings and Boogie Nights but that's 'cause they needed a bland person.
Haven't seen it yet, but I feel something like the (new) Italian Job needs people with strong personalities.

Yes exactly thats why you have got Ed Norton, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham and Seth Green in it.

But they've got Wahlberg as the main character. As a side person, that would be better. Someone to lead the cast rather than be pushed along.

Of course when I see the movie I might have to eat my words but my opinion is based on movies like Perfect Storm, Planet of the Apes and The Yards.

There was nothing wrong with him Planet of the Apes. You put him in a strong film with a great director and he is good. Not having seen any of Gary Gray's films I don't know how good a director he is.

I haven't seen any of his either, but I've been told he managed to get a good performance out of Vin Diesel (like, showing emotion!!!) so if Gary can do it for him, maybe you're right, he might do it for Wahlberg.

When's it released over here?

Good to know, thanks!
