In the general thread, wouldnt it be a good idea to have a thread that was sticky where new members could introduce themselves. We have had a few new members recently with the usual "hi" threads etc.

Just for them to say hi and say a little about themselves etc etc.

I don't agree. Only a few people start the "Hi im New" threads and as said in another thread these are the people who normally don't return. Personally I think it's best for people just to blend in. A full thread of "Hi im New" at the top of the page would get pretty boring.

It would start out as a Hi topic and just turn into a general chatting one and lose the effect. It's better to have these few topics of hi and leave them to drop down.

No, seriously - I agree, it would just turn into an 'Emails Sent Chris' thread after a while or lots of posts from me every week saying "Hi Welcome, I'm David - no matter what Kendra says, I don't love Shetland Ponies."

I agree. The people who do introduction threads don't bother coming back. People who do come back sort of just blend in.

Well - just dont allow people to say hi to everyone. Just leave it for newbies to say their stuff.

I'm new i just joined this morning
i didn't start by saying "hi" but i do think this is a good idea to put a place esspecially for new users to introduce themselves
it might make them feel more welcome
