The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Depending on how close you are to someone - has anyone found that they move apart from their friends whenever you go away to uni or start to do something else?

Its really hard trying to stay in touch with people. And they hardly bother with you anyway.

Is there any point hanging on to people you hardly speak to or having nothing to say to them

:x

Bit different as we haven't moved away, but even since I left school I regularly keep in contact with three people from school, two of them are regulars in my local.

Although there are about two others I have seen recently and am planning to meet for a drink, I find it really hard, but I always find that if you try and organise something someone always cancels (sometimes me to be fair.)

I realise that there only actually abou4 people from college that I will make an effort to see, others I will definately see but I wouldnt make an effort.

I am close friends with a few people from school who I wasn't mates with when I was there. I only keep in touch with one of my proper friends from school (i went to a different college to them), its worth the effort if you can still be the same with them but if you have nothing to say to the fk it. Just keep it as a memory or some sheet

Hmm, I draw the line at my teachers, I hated most of them (had a bit of a problem with authority), although some were okay.

Having said that, one of my best friends now is a qualified teacher and is hoping to do some degree so she can teach older people. I'm almost as ashamed as I was when my old babysitter became a cozzer.

I don't make a massive effort to keep in touch with friends. It's a shame really, but people move on get new lives and new friends and lose touch. It's the way of the world.

One of my mates who I used to go to school with went to uni. I try very hard to keep in contanct with him but he puts absolutely no effort into staying in touch with me. Also one of my other school friends is (was) doing a PGCE at Hallam so we regularly used to meet up for drinks.

It's in that sunscreen song, it's the precious few that hold on.

If it gets to the point where you have nothing to say, I'd let go. I still keep in touch from friends that left me about three years ago, it's easier if you can text or msn. I never spoke to one who left for three years up until last month, lifes funny.

I try to stay touch and give it my best, if the other person isn't willing, they aren't worth my time.
