yeah i know that, i realised after i'd posted that it might seem i thought that but they said it wont be (cant remember the term they used) case specific - they'll give money to anyone. so what i meant was that the people who are slags may not even consider it bad because theyll get looked after.

you're going little too far over the bridge there, paul. it maybe a waste of money to you but it gives hope to those with young children that want to get a good education and actually go somewhere with their life.

yeah, fair enough if they seriously do want an education, but my point was just giving this money out to anyone could take away the seriousness of it to younger people because it wont seem like as much of a problem if it happens.

i agree totally. our government is far too nice to people. like the asylum seekers for example. it would be more beneficial to the country if the governemnt was a bit more ruthless.

ok this isnt supposed to be backing up my point or anything and im not basing my opinion from this one case but it reminded me of friday night when me and a few mates were walking to the kebab van. 3 girls (i guess about 15) walked past us dressed like hookers and one shouted "oi you, anyone got a lighter" so we said no and walked on but turned round because she was standing there hurling abuse at us because we didnt have a lighter (i wont go in to what she was saying).

next day we walked past her pushing her little bambino in a buggie and thought, yep, thats about right.

sometimes its a mistake if they decide to breed. some lads want nothing to do with children after they know that the person they recently slept with is expecting children. at least that money gives them a chance to go to school and learn without worrying about child care and the things that go toward looking after children. it costs a hell of a lot of money to look after young people. personally 5k isnt enough - but lets face it they live with their mam and dads so there not that worse off then before they get the cash.

its unlikely that they will get pregant just for the sake of the money. having a kid at home can have a phy'lo and emotional effect at school or college.

personally i feel the government have not been good to its people enough.

i dont think you understood exactly what i was saying - i didnt mean theyre going to have as many kids as possible so that they get money, i meant that they might not think about it much before they start sleeping with people because they know they can easily get support if they do happen to get pregnant.

It doesn't make any difference how much money you've got. Somebody I know was telling me how when she got pregnant, she didn't really truly want the child, but her mum & dad told her they'd support her totally, so she ended up having the kid, and they have supported her totally and look after him when she wants to go out & enjoy herself & so on, but in the end - she's still stuck with a child.

But I dunno, I think in a way they should concentrate more at school on showing teenagers the bad side of having a child & how it can, well, * up your life.

actually i have to say that in my class at school before 6th form there were 3 right slags.

2 of them got pregnant in the 10th year and left school, the other one in the 11th.

I don't smoke, but I always carry a lighter round with me in case anyone asks, & just because it's come in handy a few times!

That's * ridiculous though, do you really believe that a girl will sit down, and think to herself "shit, I need a house - what should I do? Get a job, live with my parents? No, I'll have a baby and then they'll give me the shittiest house going, but at least I won't have to pay too much for it!!"

You might have a house but you're still stuck with a KID. They must actually want the baby to a point, it's not just a means to an end is it? As long as they love their child & look after it properly, then who gives a shit if that's how they want to live?

some people do get pregnant to get a flat though magenta. you get young couples who have left home maybe because of not getting on with their parents or some other problem and there's a huge waiting list for them to get a flat, but, if they get pregnant they'll get a shortcut to the front, so they do it.

You don't just go "oo I want a baby," have sex once & then bang, you're pregnant, it does some of the time (most of the times when people don't wanna get pregnant it seems), but I've heard of women who've spent months or years trying to get pregnant for whatever reason.

Housing Waiting List Times

We currently have over 1,400 people on our register. The Council own approximately 4,000 homes (this number is going down). Housing Associations own about 2,500 (this number is going up).

Waiting Times

1 or 2 Bedroom Flat - 3 to 4 years. 2 bedroom maisonettes will take longer.
Houses - 4 to 5 Years
Sheltered Accommodation - 6 months to 3 years

Couples will normally wait about 3 - 4 years for a flat. The
waiting time for single accommodation is the same although this can be less if the applicant would accept a bedsit or a studio flat.

Houses can take 4 to 5 years. Sheltered bedsit accommodation can be within months.

Offers of accommodation are often quickest when an applicant is
happy to consider Housing Association as well as Council properties
and has a wide choice of areas.

thats just one borough, so people have plenty of time to get pregnant to jump the queue. when people are waiting 4 years for a flat they get desperate
